Recently fitted these lower pegs (MFW Vario); they make it rather more comfortable for the arthritic knees. Very easy to fit; the only moderately fiddly part was lowering the brake and gear pedals.

They're not cheap brand-new, but I was lucky enough to get these for £45 from a friend

Many thanks to Keith (old git) for the heads-up on these : https://www.ridersite.com/viewtopic.ph ... highlight=

I've just got some Genmar bar risers, which will be going on soon - just need to organise a mate to help steady the bike while I move the forks a few mm. up through the yokes to accommodate them. Phil, would these help with your shoulder problems? You're welcome to try them out when they're fitted. They are definitely a rip-off - ridiculous price for a couple of bits of machined aluminium, but without having a sample to copy, not much alternative. http://www.sportouring.com/part.php?ite ... del=Futura

Now, where can I find a nice weatherproof plaid blanket for my legs?

Thanks for that, Geoff; several others have recommended tiger balm, but I've yet to try it. I tend to use ibuprofen gel for the temporary relief (tho' my GP insists it doesn't work, but I beg to differ). Regular doses of diclofenac (NSAID) for this & arthritis elsewhere. Haven't a clue what chi gung is.

As for weight, I'm 6', and have hovered around 14 stone for years; I could probably do with losing a bit, but I don't think I'm excessively heavy, nor does my GP. And my moobs aren't as big as Pete's.

Ibuprofen gel is wonderful stuff - is your GP insane??

I do have some Tiger Balm somewhere - never think to use it these days but might have to dig it out again as it seems to be noted to cure most of the world's ills.

I hope I never have to change my pegs because of shagged knees....

Biofreeze gel is good for aches and pains too. Smells a bit though.
Just shout if you need another pair of hands for bike propping.

She quoted a study which seemed to suggest the effects are negligible; empirical evidence - my own - suggest otherwise.

Tiger balm is awesome. there's various strains of it from different companies, but the cheap stuff works well, quid for 3 tubs from the usual pound shops. I bought some in Kenya which was absolutely amazing, cost about 10p and worked better than any of the other ones i'd used.

Good for flatulence too, so the tub says!
