Well it's that time of year again. So come Thursday I'll be Isle of Man bound to once again enjoy the magic of the TT (beer , going very very fast, more beer, going very very fast, more beer, watching the racing, going very very fast, beer and...well you get the idea)

Just scored a Renegade airkit on fleabay which the seller is going to try and get to me prior to setting off. So hopefully (fingers crossed) I can enjoy the full induction noise at full chat over the mountain at 5 in the morning (just hope there's no fog) The "T" is now geared for a full high speed run so I'll let you know how she goes (15-42 seems to be the best gearing for max speed with a fat git on board) I have a new 2CT Pilot Power 190/55 being fitted on Weds as well, so thats the twisty bits taken care of as well.

Hopefully I'll bump into Trev (IsleFalco) if his marshalling duties allow but if anyone esle is going over let me know as its always nice to have a beer with friends off the forum.

As I always seem to say at this time of year........If you haven't been to the Island ...please do it. It's superb! the bikes, the atmosphere it's totally addictive and it should be on your "things to do before I step off this mortal coil" list.

This is one of the last remaining places on the planet (certainly in Europe) where you finally get a chance to see if all that money you have spent on modifying your bike has been worth it! Unlimited speed limits including going round bends (no autobahn here) really show how good your bike "actually" is! and just how fantastic these bikes actually are when allowed to perform at their maximum (within reason of course, I'm not advocating that just anyone pins it full chat without knowing what they are doing of course)

BUT, I went to the NW 200 this year for the first time and loved it! It hasn't got quite the buzz of the TT and, of course, you can't ride 'without limits' but, the racing was brilliant - far better than the TT IMHO. I'd recommend it to anyone who loves road racing plus, there's some great roads on the way there.

I think the racing is "different" as at the North West the racing is almost short circuit in style. The TT is nearly always a race against the circuit first and the competition second. Both are superb and we keep meaning to do the NW200 but it's difficult (almost impossible) to do both and keep marriages / relationships intact

The weather is supposed to be OK, so fingers crossed. My mates landed this morning and one was nicked at Ramsey with 3/4hr of landing (yes the same guy who got banned there last year)

I've now got the Rene airkit fitted (oh my god ..what a noise) but the breather is flowing oil as though it's an oil line! I reckon it's probably a bit overfilled from the service although the std breather is vertical of course which allows any oil to drain back into the engine, mine is now pointing at the chain. Could be a cheap Scottoiler alternative of course!

John McGuinness has once again stamped his authority on the 2009 Isle of Man TT with a breathtaking performance in the fourth practice session.

In bright sunshine, under blue skies and with a slight breeze, the 14-times TT winner blew away the rest of the field with a staggering ride on the HM Plant Honda superbike.

On his second lap of the evening the Morecambe star recorded an average lap speed of 130.171mph – only just slower than his outright lap record of 2007, which stands at 130.354mph.

Fans watching the progress with the TT Live! subscription service saw McGuinness hook up a perfect lap, reaching Ballaugh Bridge at an average speed of 139.318mph, blasting through the speed trap in Sulby at 191.2mph and getting to Ramsey Hairpin in under 10m 50s – at a staggering average speed of 142.473mph!

Behind McGuinness, Guy Martin was having another solid evening on the Hydrex Honda superbike, achieving 188.5mph at the speed trap on his opening circuit and blasting through 129mph on his second, with an average speed of 129.168mph.

Steve Plater, teammate to McGuinness at HM Plant, had a much improved session, his best superbike lap hitting 128.453mph and taking second fastest through the speed trap, with a 189.6mph.

Roll on tomorrow, I think this years TT is gonna be a belter

Didn't see F9, but there again I have spent all my time marshalling at my usual spot. This year I have become a Deputy Sector Marshall which has increased my commitment. Hardly got to Douglas at all, not that there is much atmosphre, thanks to our crappy Minister of Tourism and Leisure who understands nothing about the TT or bikers but felt he knew enough to cancel all the street entertainment. Wanker.

The racing has been brilliant, so far. The Falco has shown a few sports bikes its rear end, as usual. Local knowledge helps as much as the bike.

Those of you who have never come to TT need to get organised for 2010.

I've often heard it said that the ManxGP can be a better experience than the TT - as our "man on the spot" what are your views?

Manx GP is less frantic and less packed. Having said that, I think there were less visitors this year. The MGP has more variety with Classics and strokers but does not have the appeal of the top riders, of course. Plenty of opportunity to ride the course, though. Just as good is the Southern 100 which has great racing on the shorter Billown circuit and the opportunity to ride the TT course. No one way over the mountain though...

If you want to visit the IOM to see the TT, well there is no substitute, but if you just want to come over and ride the course any of the events will give you that and the chance to see some racing. Its all cheaper outside of the TT..
