I will have to commute throught the winter on my newly aquired Falco, and whilst it never bothered me on the hornet, I'm dreading the Falco being 'eaten' by the road salt
Anyone got a good winter regime thats tried and tested?
Was thinking about a daily spray with Scotoil FS365 corrosion inhibitor...

I'd just go for ACF50 after giving it a damn good thorough clean.

Good stuff and Im sure someone on here had a mate who treats bikes.

I use the ACF and like it BUT tend to avoid the worst of the salt so not really sure if it's doing it's job or not. I am pretty sure it sticks though. Even now, months after I last applied it the water just rolls off the frame parts.

The reality is that I wont wash it after every ride ie in the deep and dark winter
Scottoil SF365 is reputed to provide incredible coverage and neutralises salt, apparently when washed, you wash off the scottoil with the salt/grime bound to it!?

buy a pressure washer - mine was 35 quid from focus

5 minute job to spray the bike down after a ride

I ride mine right through the year and it seldom gets a wash down as it's dark and cold when I get in. Occasionally it gets a squirt with that Scotoil 365 stuff.

Some of the screws etc suffer a bit but in the main, it stands up to it very well.

Pressure washers and bikes like ours don't mix.

There are too many areas where you don't want high pressure water (which will be high pressure saline solution in winter) getting. The salty muck will be forced even further into the nooks and crannies that it probably never found initially.

I suggest a basic hose with cold water through one of those gentle rose attachments. Another advantage is that it may leave the corrosion inhibitor of choice in place rather than blasting it off onto the drive.

Agreed chaps I keep the pressure down very low . I also use the Scott oiler stuff

I have no such dilemmas. I don't do cleaning. Or washing. Hence La Sporca. Whole bike is covered with WD40 and Scottoiler stuff. When the muck achieves a certain thickness (half inch approx) it simply breaks off the surface. Then I re-apply protective stuff.

Above all the accumulated grime serves as a protection against stone chips, bike thieves and prevents sex with unknown people at bike meets.

We have a biker chum who provides a bike cleaning and ACF50 protection service, he frequently comes down and works from our place in Newbury. He's done quite a lot of work for people on various bike forum, Sreet Triple, CB1000 PolishBikers, Fazer Owners' Club etc. so has a good reputation already.

Slick, the owner and operator of ALL YEAR BIKER travels all the way down from Durham to our place in Berkshire and other venues 'dahn sarf' to give you an idea of his commitment. He's been riding for years and currently has a 55,000 mile, yet totally immaculate, Bandit 1200.

...it's been suggested a few times that I could use spray equipment to offer some form of anti-corrosion service to other bikers. I really liked the idea of that and looked into the sort of service I could provide. So the 'All Year Biker' idea came about. The aim is to offer as high a standard of protection for motorbikes against corrosion as is available on the market today. Having researched and tested ACF-50 I believe, in combination with the pressure spray equipment we use, that this is the best you can get. The interest generated during the first couple of weeks meant that going mobile was the next logical step.

This stuff was developed to protect US Navy planes against a lifetime of sea spray and salt corrosion so it really will look after the bits of your bike you can't get to.

If you come down to our place when he's here (you'll need to book in with him to be sure of a place), all you have to do is fill your selves with free bacon rolls and tea and chat while he does the work. Or if you want to go for a wander, the town centre is a ten minute walk away and ProBike Yamaha/Suzuki is a five minute walk away.

he has other venues around the country he visits, one near Bristol, Molesworth near Peterborough, also Bolton. Also, if you're 60 miles or less from Darlington, he will come out to you.

Last weekend we had another visit, guys from the CB1000 forum and someone from the local IAM group all chuffed with their shiny bikes and a steady supply of bacon rolls, tea and biscuits. £45 well spent which will save them a few hundred quid in depreciation and keep the bikes alive over the winter.

I got my Fazer done after not cleaning it at all since the last time it was treated at the start of the year and I couldn't believe how well it's come up again, this stuff really DOES work!

There's probably going to be another day here in about four or five weeks and of course there are other venues about the country as well.

clean all you want , i got complimented from a guy when my bike was sitting outside my local , he said its good to see a bike that has been used instead of all polished up ,
road rash and all , iv washed my falco 3 times in the 2 years iv had it

the guy that buys it off me can do all the hard work and ill just buy your clean bike

my bikes got character and ever dent scratch tells a storry,,,whooops just lost a grand on the resale value of my bike, it is tip top condition realy

I speak Polish but don't do polish. Just to clarify.

Saying all that you inspired me to clean the bike today and re-apply ACF before winter comes. My wife told me I should have stayed away from you guys, bad influence and all that.
