Ceramic Coated Headers

Just thought I'd show you my latest bit of "Bling". Just had the headers ceramic coated in Cermakrome. According to the company who did them, they have been "double-coated" and will not discolour or tarnish (time will tell eh?) Apparently they do a lot of work coating Ducati headers, but these are the first Aprilia ones they have done. The owner is a keen petrol head and car racer, all the joints were cleaned and un-coated as were the threads for the Lamda sensor, all in all a very professional job. Cost £105 which I'm pleased with (well as pleased as a Yorkshireman can get with parting with money)

Look good though, well IMHO they do!

Interesting. I look forward to seeing them in situ.

How do they stand up to scratching?

To answer a couple of points.

Scratching - not too sure is the honest answer, although ceramic is a tough material, I used to use ceramic tips on my CNC lathe back in my engineering days. Time will tell I suppose. You all know I am a fair weather biker so I'll never be able to tell you how they stand up to winter grime & road salt.

Turn Around - approx 3 weeks, but I wasn't in a hurry and I dropped them off prior to Xmas

FYI- They cleaned & polished the headers before coating. These headers are off a 2006 RSVR and were in a clean but very used condition. To be honest I'm amazed at how clean & smooth they now are. The finish is very close to the frame colour, so I can't wait to get them fitted. I'll post pics as soon as the bike is done

Come on Rich, you could at least get the old wire brush out on the electric drill and test it for us. :smt005
Looks good though, be nice to see it on the bike.
Just one final thing shouldn't you be T9 by now! :smt003
Then again T1 might be more appropriate.

Very nice and a decent price aswell I think. The satin black looks spinky aswell, I'd consider that for my race cans but seeing as circuits are lowing noise limits I might aswell get the standard falco ones done ffs.

If bling=speed then you should be going about 20mph faster :smt002

Yeah they look good Rich. I've had that website bookmarked for ages - wondering what the stuff would actually look like on our pipes - so know we know.

Still cant decide whether it's worth me shelling out with most of the pipework hidden in the bellypan.

That's exactly my thoughts Andy, you don't see too much on a Falco with a belly pan, but see a bit more on a Tuono.
Be nice to see how it looks.

Very nice indeed Rich. In fact I'd leave them on the dining room table -a really funky centre piece :smt001

I seriously considered getting mine done last yr and it looks brill but as stated, the belly pan covers a lot of it. I sprayed mine black with high temp paint. Looks ok and tidys up the discolouration.
