ITALIAN MOTORCYCLE manufacturer Aprilia has revealed further desire to rejoin the MotoGP world championship. The company has already been involved in the series, with the ill-fated RS3 Cube, which failed to make any impact and was scrapped at the end of 2003.

Speaking at the recent launch of a new Aprilia 750 road bike, Piaggio Group chairman Roberto Colaninno told the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper, "We have won a gamble few believed in when we acquired the company at the end of 2004.

"We've restructured it and today we are presenting the first product built entirely - frame and engine - in Noale. We are taking some fabulous victories in 125 and 250cc, and now we are preparing for a big entrance in Superbikes and probably MotoGP.

"After the restructuring of the company, it's now time to make the leap forward. In the next three years we'll invest 340 million Euros for industrial development and we'll build a factory in Vietnam to produce the Vespa.

"That's where the philosophy to be in the most important two-wheel competition stems from."
Oh yeah baby, I really hope this happens

I wonder what sort of motor this will get.

I did note that the new V4 has been reported as likely to have more power than the roadgoing Desmosedici when it is launched .... that did make me wonder whether there may be a MotoGP motor related to this as well as a WSBK version ....

but I'm probably miles off of the mark ....
