got pulled on the A20 last night

Arse,

got pulled after coming of the A20 last night had been doing 85-90ish.....
but what a nice couple of police officers, they came up along side after id stopped and just wound down the window! he said "i take it you know why ive stopped you" replied "yes sir" he then went on to say theres enough incidents on the road and they dont want to make a house call to tell another familly of an injured rider, reduce your speed and calm down a bit, then went on to recommend bike safe and the lady driver said she had done it herself and was well worth it, after 5 min chat they said go home and ride safely!

phew think i was lucky not to get fine and points and stuff,

Good let off, nice to see there's some reasonable cops still around (even in traffic). Bet it was raining and they couldn't be bothered getting out to get wet.

I've got a similar story.

Was on my way to LeMans on the Hornet in April, heading for a 2.30am meetup at Reading services (we were catching the 5.50am ferry from Calais).

Anyway, it had taken a little longer than anticipated to gear the bike up so I was making up some time. Just passing J15 and I get the blue lights in the mirrors - apparently I had overtaken him, he was in an unmarked 3-series. He'd clocked me averaging 93 and peak of 96 over the course of 2 miles!

He let me off with a similar warning, saying that my riding was good but just a little too fast, so calm it down a bit. Top policing!

Sensible policing has all but been taken away from the beat plod as more and more of their discretion is erroded in favour of strict lines of guidance, usually dreamed up then draughted up by a number-cruncher in some air-conned office..used to be a good job but parliamentary interference and this human rights bolloxs is slowly but surely strangling it with paperwork and interference.

Still...only 6 years to go

I think traffic coppers in general are OK, as long as you are not riding like a knob. My nephew is a copper in Derbyshire and they've just given him a 2007 Fireblade and an annual kit allowance of £1000, so he's as happy as Larry!
I did a BikeSafe course in Cheshire about 3 years ago. Best £35 I've spent. Helped my riding lots, and I often see some of the Bike cops on the Cat & Fiddle. They have a bit of a job chasing Kwak 12R's on their wobbly Pans but boy can they ride 'em!

Funnily enough, I got a tug when I was in Italy a few weeks ago by the Carabinieri. What a bunch of bloody poseurs they are.. Armani uniforms and all.
I just smiled and said "Inglesi", he smiled, waved his ping-pong bat at me and let me go.

Just happened to be driving (hire car) at about 08:30 on a sunday morning. Not really speeding, and he didn't have a radar gun, but they just pull in drivers without any reason. No gatso's over there though!

Hire cars stick out like a sore thumb in Italy and they catch a lot of drivers who have had a drink (Italy is one country that will chuck you in prison and heavily fine you if you've had just one drink).

BTW I was thinking you were on a bike
