Heres the T now with the 600 mile service done, a 15t front sprocket fitted, A nice new set of Leos (they are LOUD!) and a tail tidy to clean up the rear end.

Well, It appears that I'm still on me own in here!

I have to say that I do seriously like the new Tuono - just not sure about the leary paint job on them. Still, if I had the spare readies, that wouldn't stop me
Maybe we'll all get to see it at the next V60 rideout (I'm broadening the scope so's you can join in!!!).

It's nice to know I still have some mates here, it does feel different though, I feel slightly detached if you get my drift? understandable though
The only live Tuono forum is over at AF1 and there some "characters" over there alright, some very nice people and some "I have my head up my own arse" lot as well.
I'll definately try to make the "V60" run, just let me know when & where (I still don't do wet though)
Went down to Silverstone for the BSB qualifying and the first bike I see parked at Paddock, was a bloody RED Falco!
Took some right stick from my mates for selling the now very popular Falco for some other unknown prilla, Sods Law eh?

If you don't risk a bit of wet round here, you can't get out much mate.
I don't usually go out if it's rainin bad, but like last Saturday, (when I hadn't been on the bike for a month because of holidays etc.), I just needed to get out on the bike. It was drizzling when I set off, so thought I'd head for some bright bits, so headed towards Newark, then Gainsborough, then Bawtry, then back towards home and it just drizzled all the way until just past Worksop, then it pissed it down for the last few miles home. Didn't care, just felt so good to be back on the Falco again.
You're gonna have to move to Spain Rich so you can put some miles on the bike!

From Falco to Tuono
So go on than, how does it compare for you? I had a go on Debz' T a few days ago and was surprised at how different it felt in character when getting straight off the Falco, I was expecting it to feel just like a Falco with motocross bars but it's definitely got it's own feel.
Neither of our bikes are standard, but I was surprised at how different the engines felt considering that one is based on the other. The Tuono has a much more refined lighter feel to it whereas the Falco feels more raw and solid. Tuono = block of aluminium, Falco = lump of iron. (I know which one I like best :D: ).
The fuelling map for the Falco isn't quite there yet, but it's loads better than the Tuono's at slow speeds which was noticably lurchy and hunting on small throttle openings through the 30 limits.
Get the revs up and it's a different matter though, the Tuono's much more willing to take off from 7k up to the redline, not surprising as my Falco is running too lean here, but the extra BHP of the T's motor are certainly evedent. Along one section of (private
) road I managed to get up to 145mph and it was still pulling strongly. That was about all the windblast I could take and the front wheel was only skipping along the surface of the road, yet it still felt completely stable at that speed. Once I get my fuelling properly sorted though, this will be a much narrower gap in top end performance and I'll still have the low speed smoothness that the T doesn't.
The new Tuono definitely has a much, much better gearbox, if it's possible to fit it into the Falco motor then it's going to be very high on my mod list. A slight flick of the toe and it goes up all the gears nice and smoothly whereas the Falco needs a possitive lift of my whole foot due to the long lever and wobbly linkage bits.
The front brakes of the Falco are very good, especially now I have the CRG levers. The Tuono ones (with the same levers) are awesome, massive stopping power, they should fit them to trains.
The Tuono also wins with it's headlights and mirrors, both of which are more effective than the Falco's. However... I can fit a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and three pairs of socks under my rear seat hump without having to leave the toolkit at home. The Tuono would probably only take one pair of socks.
Handling wise both bikes feel very neutral yet extremely responsive (OZ wheels on them both). Debz had her susspension set up (for free!!) by Southern Cross Aprilia at the last service, but I get extra smugness as I did mine myself and they both corner in exactly the same way. The Tuono is possibly a little more arse-friendly over the bumps, so I may experiment some more with the damping on the Falco.
Verdict? The Falco needs a few tweaks here and there, I'd upgrade the fuel map, headlight, brakes and gearbox (if possible) first, but overall it's still the better bike for me. I prefer it's looks, it sounds fantastic with the Renegade Airkit fitted, has loads of storage space, is easier to clean, has a better fairing, a slightly larger tank capacity and a shorter seat height, so I'll not be adding to the Tuono collection in the garage. It is a very nice looking bike (although I'm not generally a fan of 'older' style bikes probalby because I got into biking so late). Its definately classy and, yes, mine probably will look dated in a few years whereas the Falco has a traditional look which will stand the test of time.
Performance-wise, the Falco top-end is non-existant. My FZ6 pulls harder at high-revs !! (and indeed Nooj can do his favourite road faster on my FZ6 than the Falco ATM) but that should be fixed in a few weeks when the Renegade exhaust goes on and it gets a proper custom map. If I can prise Nooj off it I'd like a go once it's properly setup :D
But at the end of the day, I bought the Tuono cos I fell in love with it and it still gives me a buzz (fnar) and puts a huge grin on my face everytime I see it, let alone ride it. I reckon I'm almost finished with the mods (Hmm, how many times have I thought that? ) but I *might* consider a power commander / custom map to sort out the power delivery at 3K and below. An airbox mod would be tempting, but since mine has the 'ram-air' system I'm not sure if it's really a good idea. The induction noise from the Renegade is additive though...

Having slowly put about 1500miles on the T and after 15,000 miles on the Falco, the bikes share a "V" twin engine and the manufacturers name , that's all. The T pulls your arms off after 6k (I'm running Map 2, Leo's and 15T front sprocket) up to there it's a bit wooly and undecided, as Debz has said a PC might sort it out , The Falco definately had much more lower end pull and for sure at higher speeds (over 100mph on the island of course) I was miles faster on the Falco just because of the aerodynamics (I'm the size of a s**t house door remember!)
Up to the ton and maybe just over this bike is the fastest thing I've ever ridden, nothing but nothing can leave it behind on the B roads I ride on for 80% of the time. I love it and it's comfy and I don't feel the need to race everywhere, I do feel the need to wheelie everywhere though as this bike gets the front so light in the first 3 gears every crest or lump in the road has the front heading very skywards very quickly (more so than the Falco trust me) and the handling is great as well , straight out of the box. I just set the sag and voila(although I have fitted a Factory Ohlins shock , coz it was too cheap to turn down)
So am I happy? well is the Pope a Catholic springs to mind . I love it, it's a beautiful looking bike, it turns heads everywhere, as many people looked at it on the island as my friends 1098 (I kid you not) it's a bit different and as Debz says, it makes me smile every time I open the garage door in fact I'm off for a quick look now
