Funny you should say that . . it was very satisfying

Keith, I've read the AF1 posts on this, and decided that, though interesting, for me, it would provide too many opportunities to FUBAR something important; as you say, it's a black art, one that gives me visions of a Sorcerer's Apprentice/Fantasia scenario. I'll leave this level of dabbling to those more au fait with this area of expertise.

So, delved into the 'black art' but only at the shallow end.
Made the cables up, sorted the software onto the laptop & managed to get the laptop & bike to talk to one another.
So far have established that the bike has the '05 map in it.
Not done any testing or fiddling as yet, but lets see what the warmer weather brings :smt001
Happy boy so far, learning as we go.
Mart, as you say lots of info from over the pond, taking it little steps at a time its not too difficult to work out the rudiments of the system.
Having saved my map onto the laptop if I do 'Fubar' the software, I should be able to re-install the original.
All that in theory anyway......little steps......little steps.
