Apparently
Gen 1 milles run better with a gen 1 air box rather than a gen 2 airbox
Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

It was a successful day. First visited Sam, then dropped in at the Hempnall Aprilia Centre for airfilter replacement.. the top of the gen 1 airbox had been bizarrely replaced with a gen 2 one, which explained the fekked, squished air filter.. this was replaced with a part off a donor bike (I think you call them Falcos) and a new filter off the shelf. After a quick tyre pressure adjustment (minor) a blast round the countryside with the stealth Falco quickly shew up the problems with the bike's suspension set up.
Bit of yoke dropping (to 3 rings) and some tweaks to the rear shock (which needs an overhaul) and the bike is turning in a heap better and the back end has ceased to try and become a hardtail..
Adjustments to the rear shock linkage had messed up the angle of lean of the bike via the unrecognised and fettled sidestand, so with a powerhacksaw in hand, Alad set about it to cut bits off the bottom (it appears to have been 're-heeled'). when this no longer worked, out came the ANGLEGRINDER! two discs later the sidestand laid on the floor refettled ridersite style. quick bit of bolting later and the bike is sitting a bit happier.
Result!
The ride back across the B1066 was a whole lot better! Cheers mate.

That's not dropped - 3 rings is standard on the "cooking" mille.Kwackerz wrote: Bit of yoke dropping (to 3 rings) and some tweaks to the rear shock (which needs an overhaul) and the bike is turning in a heap better and the back end has ceased to try and become a hardtail..
The standard setting on the milleR is 4 showing.
I have 4 showing with max ride height at the rear. I'm guessing that you probably haven't gone for as high a rear setting as is possible

I think Keith has his Falco set with 5 rings showing ( I think overall that's a very similar set-up to mine as I seem to remember the back of his isn't set quite so high as mine)

Bearing in mind short arses' new triangles, I think being cautious is a good idea
The key to this is getting the rear shock serviced plus a new spring - after a gentle bimble the shock remote was very warm ...
And it was a gentle bimble.... VMAX Tim?
Puff

it was on 2, so yes,it was dropped.. back to standard..
The rear is still high. as we only reduced it a few mm's. which'd be why the front on 3 is fine for what I need.
as said, the rear needs and overhaul so Ill probably take it down to Darren at MC Technics in Stowmarket. Pricey, but he is legend.
