Hi Rich, let us know when you're doing that and, if the planets align (i.e. if we're down at the same time as you) we may be able to offer some Southern French hospitality.
And congrats on your new bolide; it's certainly a step change from the T, but sometimes that's just what's needed.

It is a 1200, or am I missing something?? Now fitted a straight-through BOS system (no cat) with a carbon end can that makes the T sound quite "muted" in comparison
SWMBO is putting no pressure on me at all to sell the "T" at all. I'm starting to think that I might actually achieve a life long dream of having a different bike to ride according to my mood and where I'm going!!
I'm not sure how long long I can get away with this though. I have got an initial quote for a 2 bike policy at £275 fully comp which I thought wasn't too bad and once they are both covered it would be churlish to sell one wouldn't it?
Quite like the new handle though Kwackerz, "The Baron" its growing on me already

Hi M8, Thanks for the offer. We have a week long trip planned for September starting in Santander / Jaca / Carcassonne / Limoges / Le Mans and home via Calais.

You could always sell the T, buy a Falco for £2k or so and have a fair chunk to spend on the missus or whatever.
Sorry Rich, ..............................................................
...............................................................................
but as I have found, it is nice to have two to choose from, even though my two are much more alike!
Then again, being more serious, you may find the GS is not only good for touring but fun enough for Sunday runs or whatever as well. Just a bit slower at the top end, but that ain't no bad thing these days.
Once these new bike cameras, (The Cat and Fiddle average speed stuff) get spread around, we'll all be wanting something like Andy's kids scooter.

I reckon a supply of black bin sacks and cable ties would play havoc with these expensive cameras without the risk of causing criminal damage to them.

You make a good point Howard (as always) although we got the missus a new car last year...if I spend anymore on her she'll get used to it
I've had a good blast out on the GS and to be honest (I never thought I'd ever hear myself saying this) I had a damn good time! along the same roads I ride on the "T" I found myself having a lot of fun but at about 20-30mph slower. As you commented this is no bad thing at all. Now I have the can on it, it sounds a lot better and once I'd got the suspension something like, it handled well. Although the trail tyres left a lot to be desired...wheel spinning a lot in the damp but they are dual purpose after all so I should'nt expect Pilot Power levels of grip from them

You could always buy another set of wheels and put something like the new BT 023s on them, or if you never plan using it on the dirt, just fit Sport Touring tyres, when you next change. A lot of people who keep the original or similar tyres on, never use them off road they only want the look.
Their ain't many real places you can take a bike off road in this country these days, and if you can find anywhere, something lighter is usually better.
(Just a thought am I being totally ignorant, can you get S/T tyres in the right sizes?)
For most people the latest GS is just a very good alternative sports tourer, and it might just ride the pot holes better as standard.
Around our way they are deep and deadly, one nearly got me last week.
Don't suppose your area is any better.

P.S. as for the wife's car that's a good ploy, I had been talking about a second bike, (once I sold the old CBR), for ages, but the wife was gettin fed up with her old 1997 Punto, especially wanted Air Con. for summer. (???).
Anyway, we got rid of the wife's old Punto last year, and picked up a really mint 05 Mitsubishi Colt, with nice alloys, A/Con, special order cream leather seats and just 10K on the clock at 3 1/2 years old.
She absolutely loves it!
It was a lot easier gettin the ZX9R after that.

You have to play the game!

September is probably the best month in the S of F. And we are only about 100kms from Carcassonne...
