Yeh, I remember, thought briefly about buying it to use in winter and help keep mine a bit tidier. :smt002

Yeah, I know the 100+ overtakes with the front wheel skimming lightly across the tarmac (with some effort) is fast, but the way the power is delivered just feels so dull. Each to their own but, I would rather travel to work using two gears that made me smile than spend the whole journey fucking around through the gearbox to deliver such a 'smooth' ride.

Or, as my other half put it, I want another twin "'cos you're just a lazy cnut" when it comes to changing gear! :smt008

I'm amazed, you think that twins are more useable as a lazy mans automatic than an IL4?

Most 4's will put from 20mph in top gear, twins will almost die and have the chugging efect

As I said, each to their own. Personally I'm with D-Rider on choice making :smt002

Just curious Gio, do you even like Aprilias?

Oh yes, nice bike, but not the be all and end all of biking.

IMO bikes are very individual, they're nothing like the cattle trucks most call transport.

Gotta agree. If I was in Turin, I wouldn't consider anything other than a scooter! :smt003

I like bikes, that's why I have two cheaper bikes rather than one new one.
For me the Falco is the best bike I've ever owned, but I still like to get out on something different every now and again. (If nothing else it reminds me how good the Falco is when I get back on it!).
The Falco has briliiant torque from low down and kicks in hard when it comes in, enough to loose a sports 600 until it gets the revs going.
But as Gio says, with a big IL4 like a Blackbird, ZZR or even my old CBR1000 or a 1200 Bandit, they will all pull clean from lower revs than the Falco, and keep building up revs without the kick you get from the Falco low down.
I can understand how some people might call that boring, for me it's just different.
Perhaps it's just that I'm getting old, but I just like that low down torque in any way these days V2 or IL4 rather than chasing something that starts at 10K + like the R6.

I have owned 2 Falcos and one Futura. My view of the Futura is that it is a great bike, without any major problems. It has more comfortable ergos than the Falco and the engine gives almost as much in the way of :smt001 factor. Slightly heavier flywheel and the mapping make it a bit friendlier in town. Great weather protectin.

If you can get a decent one for low money, it would make an excellent second bike. Only advice is don't crash it. Those plastics are expensive :smt053

Just a thought. If you want a smoother ride plus a bit of character, you could invest ina Triumph triple. I have a 900 Trident which I bought for low money - £2300 - with only 9600 miles. The engines are bullet proof, the build quality is great (mine is a 10 year old minter) it is very comfy and to top it all, it has the capacity to keep you interested. Any of the Hinckley bikes will do this and if you can get a decent one, go for it. Mine is not for sale....
