Just read a write up in the AMCN comparing light weight bikes. They tried out the Shiver, BMW F800, Yamaha 800, Trumpet 675 speed triple and the Ducati something that ends with an 8.
The little Trumpet came up trumps (see what I did there), although it had the smallest engine of the group it's handling, suspension (it was the 'R' model), price and hooligan factor impressed all the testers.
The Shiver took 2nd spot over the Ducati, mostly on style points.
Looks like Triumph are thinking about getting into the small capacity singles market too, althought that might only be from their offshore plants.

It was about 25 yrs ago when I was doing research at Cov Uni into Electric vehicles. We had built an electric car and an electric truck but we also bought a C5 to see what they were like.HowardQ wrote:Nice way to end that one Andy !!
Why am I not surprised.
Our lab was pretty big - it was previously used for airframe stress testing but the aeronautical engineering courses were being wound down. So, with such an opportunity to set up an impromptu race-course - a few of us set about competing for the fastest lap. Well C5s were electric powered but could also be pedalled - or both at the same time ..... so having decided to really go for it I was hammering it and came to a bend flat out .... at which point it "capsized". I was launched into a huge resistor bank that we used with a hybrid vehicle powertrain rig .... and ripped the knee out of my trousers.
Ah well ... the things we do ......

I would never spend 10+k on a new bike when I could buy at least three shit hot second hand bikes for the same cash
plus I know sods law says if I ever put that much cash in a brand new bike the first thing I would do is slide it down the road in some kind of spectacularly pathetic crash.. think banana skin or dodging a squirrel
I've always fancied doing 200mph on the road so at some point I;m going to have to buy something that can do that (in germany of course)
