I would not worry about it
It will be sorted out on next MOT - as in it will be in mileage then.
If there is a disparity, then write to vosa or who ever and explain your reasoning
The falco is a bloody good bike no matter what age - the faster colours are the oldest btw....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Well funnily enough
It appears that the history that would cover this period has gone missing everythin up to it and some stuff after it but nothing available relating to it

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.

OK .... I've read through this thread and I'm still not clear exactly what the facts are.
I'm presuming that past MOTs are showing a "mileage" greater than subsequent or the current mileage?
From what I can gather, though I'm not certain, some of the previous MOT "mileages" would not be inconsistent with them being Km readings.
My son's scooter's odometer records in Km and every MOT they just write down the number, incorrectly recording it as mileage - overstating the distance travelled. I don't think MOT recorded mileages can be relied upon.
I don't think it is easy to "clock" the mileage on the Aprilia dash - other than swapping it for another unit that shows lower miles. However, second hand dashes are not cheap and may not increase the value of the bike sufficiently to pay for the "new" dash.
So ..... do you have evidence that the mileage as sold to you is incorrect?
..... do you think you were deliberately misled and it has actually travelled further than you were led to believe.
Now I hate people conning others and IF that is the case my reaction would be to make a bit of a fuss.
.... but IF the mileage is more than you were led to believe, then by how much? .... and is it enough to spend your time on.
Fairly often prospective purchasers come on the forum and ask whether they should go for one bike or another and whether they should take the lower mileage bike.
The forum members usually advise to go with the overall condition and not worry so much about mileage. Of course there are very occasional failures but these Rotax engined bikes are very reliable and frequently achieve high mileages - we know of several that exceeded the 100,000 Km barrier.
Therefore, unless we're talking many thousand miles, it's probably not that great an issue.
Oh yes, you mention concern about resale value?
..... just realise this one's a "keeper" and you won't be selling
Hope this helps a bit - but in the end the decision is yours to do what you believe best.

Thanks :)
Just to say thanks for all the input. It is appreciated :)
So we know that
1) I am a worry goose
2) my overly emotional Welsh genetics have surfaced
3) whatever I do I will be on a Falco for a bit if not this one then another if nothing else then as I said before because of the great atmosphere on here
Thanks
Geoff

Geoff,
You should take up knitting.
Then when you drop a stitch you can spend pointless hours hunting for it, the perpetrator who stole it or the aliens that abducted it.
If it helps, your bike has only 8K miles it hasn't even reacjhed the point where you might consider getting the pointless valve clearance checks done.
Change the oil regularly, keep the battery fully charged and you won't have any problems.
If ya don't want the bike then I'll have it. It would be happy in my garage beside my 44k mile, minor battle scarred BLACK beast which I love and can't bring myself to part with.
Ride the fkn thing and stop gan oan aboot it

A poll with just one option will normally attract 100% of the votes cast .....Samray wrote:I think this is the first poll on the site I've seen with one option getting 100%.

The governments of China, North Korea, the former Soviet Union and others of their ilk found that to be an effective method of canvassing opinion
