RSV4 Recall (Engine Swap)

#1 Post by D-Rider » Thu Jan 21, 2010 1:46 pm

Aprilia has announced a recall on the Factory and R models for a complete engine change. This does not affect all sold bikes but check with your dealer to see if yours is on the list.

No more info than that.

Maybe they'll fit 2 Falco motors instead :smt003
The ride is the reason ........ the destination is just the excuse.

I believe that a bad batch of con-rods 'slipped through' and was fitted to number of engines. Apparently some of those engines were in the bikes the press rode at a racetrack launch. Bit of an egg on face moment for Aprilia.

But the problem is a known one, they know the engine numbers affected and it's being dealt with.

Move along please, nothing to see here...

Indeed - though I thought the original explanation about the faulty batch of rods suggested that they had been confined to the press launch RSV4s

Now it seems they are also on a number of production bikes and also the Factory version (though it does use the same engine).

It will all be well and truly sorted before the second-hand values fall sufficiently for me to own one!
