Gio, not for the first time you seem to have a similar view to me, (frightening for both of us I suppose). Lots of people go on about moving to naked bikes because they are getting older and need a more upright riding position. When I came back to bikes for the umpteenth time around six years ago, I was sure I needed a naked bike, something not too brutal for someone in his early fifties to get back into bikes. I wanted someting a bit different, and something classic that reminded me of earlier Jap bikes, so bought a 1992 Honda CB Sevenfifty FII N Retro. Big long heavy twin shock 750 IL4, but looked and rode like a "real bike".Gio wrote:Not impressed with those video's, anyone would think he was breaking the law speed wise.
D-R you sure you'd have a naked bike, it hurts more when you're older
Loved it and thought I'd stay with this sort of bike when I decided to move on, planned on a 1200 Bandit as had always liked em and ridden quite a few, also looked at XJRs and ZRX12s.
Somebody tried talkin me into selling him my CB and had a mate selling a 1200 Bandit.
Went up to his place, first decently long run on the CB on a cold day in late October, had a fast run up the A1 and the arthritis in my shoulders had me in serious agony, nearly had to turn around and come home. Anyway got there, he had a CBR1000, tested rode that, loved it/bought it. He took the CB in part ex. Drove back and it was like being in a ballistic armchair, (still is!), even at 125 plus on the A1. Don't now like bars set sports bike low, for anything more than a 50 miles or so, but seem to fit perfect with clip ons just above the yokes. I can drive for hundreds of miles on the CBR and the Falco is a very similar position for me. It's the perfect riding position for me now, am OK on a naked for 50 or 60 miles, possibly further if slow. But ride em quick with the wind tryin to rip your arms off at the shoulders and the combination of arthritis and old/recent bike injuries leaves me knackered.
Falco or CBR Thou and I can still go forever. So that's what I stick with. Cannot understand people looking at Falco bar risers.
Oh by the way Andy, this is really an Aprillia post, so don't nick it.
I like the look of the Shiver, but for the reasons above would only be interested in the 1200 half faired version coming later, love the idea of that big V/Twin grunt!
