Quiet lot, us Fut owners (unless you've changed the exhaust!)

So, just as a round up of what's hot and what's not, what have you done to yours and was it worth it?

Just for starters, here's my contribution:-

05 map installed: definitely worth it for all the reasons we all know.

Removed the restrictor thingy in the air box: Made no difference I could tell.

Wiring mod and fuel connector already done and also well documented. So definitely worth it.

Did the fuel pressure regulator mod: I'm not convinced it's made much difference to be honest. There may be a bit of an improvement in fuel consumption but it's hard to tell really.

16T front sprocket: Much livelier, as you might expect, at the expense of being a bit busy at cruising speeds. Given most of my riding doesn't involve too much cruising, I'm happy with it.

Mille front forks and rotors: Another good mod, mainly for the improved braking. Never understood why Aprilia fitted smaller rotors to a heavier bike designed for 2 up touring

HID headlight and dip beam mod: Love this one - seems to make the bike much more visible to other road users.. MoT tester tells me every year that it's not strictly kosher but isn't a fail point so long as the beam pattern is correct - which it is.

Stebel Nautilus horn: Don't need it much but, when you do, it certainly gets the attention.

Power outlet in the moulding on the right hand dash: Very useful but now wired the sat nav in permanently. Still handy for charging phone but have to watch the cable doesn't tangle.

Zorstec cans: Love these too. Still has the bread box fitted but they give quite a rich rumble, particularly on the overrun, without being too loud (although my fiancée claims she can hear me way before I arrive home!).

Double bubble screen: Better wind protection for me (I'm 5' 10") although not too sure about the aesthetics. I'm keeping it for now though.

I'm thinking of fitting a back rest for the pillion so if anyone has any ideas on that, I'd like to hear them.

So, that's me. What's every one else been up to??

OK since there is nothing on tele..........ever....
twin Ducati 848 exhausts, helps with a little rumble but nothing too mad
05 map

Hope you are keeping well.
Also nice to see you are keeping your hand in with the Futura.
I'm a bit worried about the "back rest" though, you ain't my age yet!
What's next, forward controls and foot rests, (only joking!).

How did using a gas analyser to balance the TB's compare to using the vacuum method?

Hi Howard. Yep, still rolling around on two wheels, thankfully. The back rest question is for the benefit of my pillion (Honest). Ideally, something easily removable (the back rest that is, not the pillion!!). I saw that your mate sold on the Falco and it was subsequently stolen - damn shame all round. Hope all's well with you and yours.

Hi Andy. I drop in here from time to time but the Fut section is pretty quiet and, of course, I don't have the Falco any more. Keeping busy with various other things, including restoring the CB77 that's lounged in the garage for far too long. Good to keep up with your antics via FB though!

Dave - good to hear from you too. Again, I've seen your posts on here so it's good to know some of the 'Elder statesmen' of the forum are passing on their knowledge to the newer members

And yes, still jumping off perfectly serviceable boats into the cold briny!

...and finally, as Andy has noted, I'm getting married on 1st November to the Lovely Julia. We've been together for over 5 years and, now the slight legal hitch is out of the way, she's going to make an honest man out of me

Thinks: I wonder how wedding leathers and white ribbon on the Fut would go down?

I'm hoping to make it to one of the ride-outs sometime as it would be good to catch up with you all (but, hopefully, a bit drier than the last one I went one!). So far they've always clashed with other things but, I'll make it one day.

Well I found once you have done it once, its really quite easy.

Basically once hooked up to the ports on the exhaust, you adjust in much the same way as with vacuum tubes although you are obviously reading the CO level on the machine rather than the level in the manometer.
Connections to the exhaust ports is easy, from memory think I used 1/8" male iron compression connectors to 8mm copper tube, then normal plastic pipe to the analyser, simples
