Hi

Just bought my first Aprilia - a lovely black 2000 Falco. Picking it up on Saturday and can't wait!

It has already had the shock replaced with an early Mille, the derestricion done and a pair of loud Scorpion exhaiusts.

First job on the list is replacing the sidestand - I have been told (on another forum) that the 06 Blade stand is the easiest to fit but I can' find one at sensible money (a blend of Scots and Yorkshire blood means I am very tight with money!)

Are there any other stands that will easily fit?- I can wield spanners with the best of them but have no current access to machining or welding facilities.

I'm also after a Baglux tank cover and a rear hugger if anyone has them going spare?

Cheers, Paul :)

The VTR1000 Firestorm (not SP1 or SP2) is supposed to be a plug and play fit (do a search for more details), and the GSXR600/750/1000 stands can also be made to work very well, but do require some machining/welding.

And welcome! You've chosen a great bike.

Welcome to the madhouse. Geat choice of bike but the spend list is endless. A few options for the sidestand - I went down the VTR route and its almost a straight swap.

Enjoy and let us have some pics when it arrives.

the vtr storm needs two things to make it work - a hole drilling for the side stand switch - and a subtle application of a girt big hammer to adjust the kick down bar

the gixxer solution needs a lot more doing - but works very well

the bubseywoo ebay solutions are best avoided these days...

the fire blade stand is around 50 quid new and is a straight fit

the USA falco stand is awesome but mr anglegrinde needs to play....

i hate to say it - but you pays your money and takes your choice

I would suggest that you spend time searching here for assorted write ups and pictures of the solutions

(AF! do not have a problem - the USA stand is different!)

Hi there from another newbie! :smt001
Sadly your bike is way ahead of mine in the fix-what-was-not-quite-up-to-par-from-birth race... Apart from - does it charge sufficiently??

Welcome to the site Paul. :smt006

Nice choice of bike!
But I could be slightly biassed, as I've had my black Falco for nearly 8 years.

Welcome Paul and I assume Simon.

Costs no money to raise the rear ride height (if your shock allows) and to drop the forks through the yokes. (5 rings showing should be sufficient). After that it's a matter of fine tunning IMNSHO.

Hello and welcome.

You will find a second hand tank bag easy enough to come by but I had a search on for three months for the correct tank cover, in the end I bit the bullet and bought a new one from Bagster, well worht it.

Do you have the original rider height so I can compare against? - my Falco apparantly has a Mille shock fitted so I'm not sure if it sits the same as stock.
