Crappy seat lock!

Good weather - time for a run out. Before I set out I double checked seat pad as I have had a cowl detach before.
20 miles later reached behind and seat pad gone. Unfortunately the route up to then was dual carriageway so I could only check looking over the barrier on the way back as I didn't have time to retrace the whole journey.
Really sick as I had tried to prise it off before starting out and it didn't budge.

Very annoying!
I always check mine carefully after re-fitting .... but it sounds as though you did too
..... hope you weren't carrying a pillion at the time - or at least one you'd like to find again .............

They probably go for stoooooooopid money because they like to try to escape
Ive been lucky enough to have mine give me a gentle nudge in the back and been able to grab it before it went on a solo flight
Next time I had the 'pussy' pad off Ireally did check it was secure only to feel it giving me a reminder.. seat lock not that good

Lost my cowl late last year and cursed myself for being a careless bastard who didn't check it properly. I retraced the near 100 mile route in my car, but didn't find it.
However, I must have unwittingly done a good deed because about 2 weeks later I came across an as new one in the right colour for £29.00.
Hallelujah!
The lock mechanism is now better lubricated than a whore's fanny and if you see a Falco rider reaching behind every couple miles for a reassuring pat, it will be me.

It's black but it's the actual seat pad I've lost.
The cowl's back on but I've put a keyring clip onto the seatlock cable and looped a cable tie through two holes drilled in the cowl base.
From now I'll clip the cowl on as a backup if (when) the lock lets go again.

Bummer, you lost it. Good idea about the extra clip, i had just posted that idea then i noticed i hadn't read all your post and you'd allready mentioned the clip. I'm going to do this to mine now.

Smart idea. Thanks!

I found to my cost that the Seat Pad seems to take an extra firm push to lock on compared to the cowl.
I lost the seat pad on my test ride, luckily Aladinsane came up with a brand new cowl ':smt001'. I have since aquired a seat pad off fleabay.
If you're stuck I have the original seat pad with three small tears which you could get recovered, for the price of the postage.

..... and I've got a spare cover ..... looks as though we've a kit of parts - all you need is a staple gun to put it all together.
