I'm in Ireland at the moment on the falco, I've been doing pretty high mileage and my freshly topped up clutch fluid had turned a lovely grey/black (they Ll do that I know). Today on the ride down to Kilkenny from Galway it started to feel loose, very little pressure at the lever and no effect from the clutch at all. Made the last couple of miles to the hotel interesting as I had to basically bang down through the gears with no clutch and try to get in neutral before stopping. I thought my slave cylinder had sprung a leak but the AA man came and bled the clutch and it is now working, he reckoned the fluid had gone off and was contaminated.

I'm guessing there's a small leak, hopefully it'll hold on long enough for me to get home but I'll be looking for a new cylinder. I see the Oberon ones on eBay and like the look of them but there are others out there. I need to know which ones fit (will gen 2 rsvr fit?) and what else needs doing (I heard some will foul the sprocket cover, which cover fits and shows it off etc)

Many of us have MPL (German made) and some have Oberon.

Pete keeps telling us that MotoPike are about to release one ... but rumours of that have been ongoing for very many months. It'll probably happen but can't really guess when.

The Mille and Tuono sprocket covers are cut away to clear the slave cylinders - get one of them. The Tuono ones are the same as the Mille ..... but a fair bit cheaper.

I've just had the bike out for a little shakedown spin and all seems as it should, I was worried I'd have to be recovered home for a while there. I have been looking at the Oberon cylinders, I think one of them in the titanium finish would look good, I have also seen a C/F sprocket cover for '04-'09 Milles, would that fit or does it need to be the earlier type?

I'm pretty sure I've seen those fitted - though can't confirm from direct experience

Rightio, fitted up the new slave today, I got he Oberon in the titanium finish, it's covered up for now but I will be looking for a new sprocket cover to show it off a little.

Getting the old one off was a bit of a bitch, the two top bolts were stuck fast, they both rounded out in the heads, hammering in a torx bit did nothing and drilling/easyout just resulted in a snapped easyout. I ended up drilling the heads off and then when the slave and spacer were removed the ends just turned out by hand.

The old slave just pissed out oil when it was removed, looking at the spacer arrangement I can see it would do a good job of holding in a reservoir or two's worth of fluid. The Oberon bled really easily, gives a much lighter lever feel and looks great, really well made and nicely finished. I have just ordered a .40 clutch oil jet from bikers world in east grinstead and will be fitting that next week sometime.

I have no opinion on Mart's oldness.

So what's the story on these Motopike thingies? I've got a Tuono cover in the shed and no bling to show off with it. Not that I need a lighter clutch, being all manned up and that.

They're not out yet, the Oberon can be had for a very reasonable £95 delivered from eBay though

I'm trying not to buy one off Oberon 'cause one of the people on their stand at the bike show got on my tits.
