I was giving the bike a once over before taking it for a quick blap and I had noticed the RH rear indicator wouldnt flash (the fronts work fine- I have RSV mirrors and LED indicators on the side fairings) The bulb was checked and its fine (swapped to the LH to validate)

I was intending to go to the servo to check the tyre pressures and fill up with fuel and since I live within a few kays of the servo I took my chances without the RH rear indicator as its mainly straight road to the servo & it was around 7pm and traffic was extremely light.

On the way home I noticed the headlight and dashboard lights were continuously cutting in & out, but the indicators were still functioning fine. I thought to myself straight away that may be a loose earth terminal, but it is securely fastened...

So does anyone have an idea as to what could be causing this?

Sounds like a broken wire that keeps connecting/breaking over bumps.
Unfortunatly broken wires tend to be time consuming to find.

If you can't find the problem an auto electrician should sort the problem.

As Blinkey says. I had an indicator problem at the rear, and it turned ot to be where the connector goes into the harness in the tail pod. I stripped it down and put some new wire in, problem solved. As for the headlight though, that will take a bit more investigating / imagineering

have you lifted the tank recently?

I would be tempted to start by checking the main wire bundles for signs of chafe or having been pinched....

re headlight and dash light. There is a connection within the wiring coming from the l/h switch gear where one green wire connects to 4/5 green wires and that connection (crimped) may well have stretched and be coming loose. The connection is about 8/12 inches away from the l/h switch gear.

With the ignition on and the light switch on, slowly squeeze / manipulate this wire working along the whole length to see if you can knock the lights on and off. If you can, then its time to get the soldering iron out!

Well to be honest the bike has been apart in bit snumerous occasions, to fit the ohlins forks etc & most recently the gilles varibars....







Hmm I shall strip the fairings off and have a look, but unfortunately I dont even possess a multimeter to check for a broken wire :(

They can chafe a bit around the headstock.
Not sure if any of the wires in that area are ones in the circuits you are having issues with.

A few years back I spotted some of my wires in that area about to go and I was able to re-insulate and protect them before they caused a problem. Guess I was lucky I had the right fairings off at the time.

If you have the right kit, space and desire, I think the falco is a lovely bike to work on

I would describe the photos as a good fettle :)

Quite. The lengths some people will go to, to avoid buying an Abba stand...

Looking at what wheels you have and the front end you have put in this is going to be a very nice falco

Unfortunately abba stands aren't available down under, but us colonials like to think we are much more creative & love a challenge much more then you whinging pommy folk!

Well I have nooj's old 100mm Gilles riser setup, I'm having dramas with the levers clashing etc so I have ordered a set of 60mm risers. This shall give me more clearance and then hopefully will also adress this electrical issue I'm having also!
