Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

If you're transferring the shock and linkages as a unit, then no - the shock will not need revalving because you are not essentially changing anything. The shock is working with the same linkages as before, all you're doing is transferring it to another bike. Mounting points on the chassis/swing arm are essentially identical on Falco, 1st and 2nd Gen Milles and 1st Gen Tuonos, so no change = no revalve.

My granny was nearly Australian, but she got away.

On a suspension related note, do shocks, linkages and dogbones have part numbers on them anywhere?

identifying the triangles and dog bones is hard as generally speaking they do not have part numbers on them....

my spare set of falco linkages will be going off to be photographed - after that you can have them mate


Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Triangles are easy to do visually Dogbones of Falco and later Gen1 Mille can be differentiated by comparison (Falco shorter). Not sure of the difference between late Gen1 Mille and RSVR dogbones though. I think they are not so different.

I have bought a white spring Mille shock, had fresh oil put in it, and is about ready to replace stock Falco unit.

Now re. my sub 70 kg (150 lbs) weight and reading here a comment the blue Falco spring should be softer than the white and suitable for approx 165 lbs riders, could it be adviced to put the blue spring on the Mille shock?

Or would that be a mismatch spring<->shock, or maybe rear shock<->front forks (which some suggest is a little firmly sprung, and I don't expect to change)?


Secondly, could anyone suggest a ballpark preload setting (on any/either spring) I should adjust to - since it's easier before installing...
(Mille manual says 130 mm spring length is std. - so slightly longer?)..?

Add: Just discovered that the top compression knob will do only 35 clicks (not 45 like manual states), while bottom rebound screw will do 45 clicks (manual states 25) .. ? What's up with that; cause for concern?
'00 Falco fire red w/35.000km. New to me in '12.

I would stick with the white spring

I think a touch longer BUT

I would go by getting it on the bike and then setting it up properly for you .....
