So I've not had the Falco out for a couple of months, I was tatting about with the brakes on the other one and decided to have a nose.

There's no oil showing in the little tuby thing. Is this normal when they've been stood? Parked where it is the level is normally half way up. Couldn't find any puddles or drips.

I'm sure the level was normal before the last time I took it out.

I think so John or we both have the same problem hope you and your new friend have a lovely new year together I'll send a punter kit later

Normal for the oil to dissapear when been sitting for a while. I think usuall method of checking oil level is to warm up engine to normal temp (after a run) then while bike is upright switch off and then look at tube it then should be showing your current oil level. Would be easier with a dip stick attached to the oil cap but that would be no fun lol

You can't check the oil without the engine having been running - and even then, it needs to have warmed up properly and the bike to be upright.
Read the owners' manual - that tells you exactly how to do it.

Sorry, i stand corrected i always thought you had to switch the engine off after it had warmed up and check immiediatly ie switch off dismount and check but i will do it differently now

I thought i'd check my user manual, and just qouting what it says is
1)Start the engine

2)allow to idle for about 15-20mins or ride on a country road for approximately 15km(9.5mi)

3)stop engine

4)Keep the vehicle in vertical position, with the two wheels resting on the ground.

4)Check the oil level in the transperant pipe through the appropiate slot provided on the left fairing

just thought i'd check as maybe you may get a false reading with the engine running

No, sorry, I was talking crap - the engine must have been running but just turned off - sorry (I'll edit my earlier post in case anybody reads it and believes it)

Well that's put my mind at rest, cheers. I'll check it when the weather warms up. And I've put some petrol in.
