Hi

I'm looking to get a Falco in the next week or so (whenever my cheque clears)

I've read up a lot but seen conflicting specifications with regard to the tank size.

Is it a 21l tank with 4l reserve or a 19l tank with 4.5l reserve?

Oh and while we're at it, is there any difference between production years?

I spent a month or so looking at Falco's and VTR firestorms before getting the Aprilia and as far as I remember the tank size of the falco is constant and the VTR chaged from 19 to 21 during it's production run.

Althought there are more experienced people than me will confirm later.

Very little of the Falco changed over the years - the tank certainly didn't (though they do tend to grow a bit in use due to the effects of the ethanol they are now putting in the fuel).

We've put together a few lists of the things that changed but most are details and changes made by previous owners will probably be the greatest differences.

19 litre

The reserve is not controlled by a switch btw - just when the fuel light comes on

Indeed - and the 4.5litre (+/- 1 litre) reserve is within the 19 litres.

See p87 of the Owners Manual

That would be the owners manual that you get when you own the bike then?

And as he doesn't own one yet he may find it hard to look in his owners manual....

I'm confused.

Even you guys who own Flacos are conflicted about the tank size.

Pretty much every specification sheet lists a 21 litre tank and the reviewers tank about in their edits. Yet about 10% list a 19 litre tank. This is leading me to believe that there are two versions.

I did ask on some other forums, but they are conflicting too.

You have to excuse the ageing ones on here as until they have their medication they are prone to wobble a bit. However despite that they scaring do know what they are on about when it cones to falco"s at least
If it helps you generally can rely on getting 120 plus from the main tank as a guide IME and a Goidelic gallon left over
If it doesn't help I refer you back to the aging spoon fed dribbling chicken heads

Oh and welcome and trust me when this lot start spending your money for you the tanks size wont matter

Hmm I need as close to 200 miles per tank as possible. My old zxr750 could manage it with an 18l tank. My zx9r with a 19l tank and claimed 41mpg can't.

The falco is claimed to do 42mpg and with a 21l tank would be perfect.

You will not get 200 out of a tank - on a long run may be 150

Normally 120+ before the light comes on

If its 21l then it should be possible on long run to dry. If It's not then I either need some way to expand the tank or save up more for an st1050 :-(

It's definitely 19 litre tank

May I suggest you go ride one then decide..... These bikes are very addictive

No he won't ..... all he has to do is click on the link in my post and he will have a pdf version of the user's manual.

I don't understand though why most reviews state 21l
