I'm picking up my Falco in December in Leeds when I get back to the UK.

Recommendations for a good dealer in the Yorkshire area for Aprilia service and spares?

Go on then I'll say it take it to Griff at tamworth not Yorkshire but you could get nooj to buff you a shiny one at the same time

Howard will probably have a better idea than me (we both live in Sheffield), but locally I use Manhattan Motorcycles. It's not a big flash dealership, but they do excellent work at a sensible price (see my oil tank saga as an example).

Sheffield may be a bit far from Leeds, though. I'm sure other Yorkies will be able to suggest something.

But Griff in Tamworth is very good.

If I ask for Griff in Tamworth I take it the locals will point me in the right direction?

Leeds to Sheffield isn't a problem. I drive 500 km for a beer here.

Aprilia Performance is the place. I bought some rearsets and had a service there last year. Nice bunch of folk.

It's a bit difficult lately, as all the local dealers have gone, well three of them at least.
I use Manhattan for simple stuff, but been thinking of Griff for more focussed Aprilia work, although it is a bit of a run if you need to leave the bike and come back.
Have heard about a bloke who used to work at an Aprillia dealership who is setting up on his own, but not enough info yet.

I will be using griff to my valve clearances, and i live near gainsborough. I rang griff and bought two clutch jets off him he was very helpfull and i get the feeling he wont (lift my leg) so to speak.

Doesn't he still do home visits? In a get enough bikes together and a suitable place to work sort of way.

Although i live on the outskirts of Bradford, i'm fortunate to have the bike based in Leics so Griff does all my work, like everyone says worth a visit, but you'll be there a while, good run down through Pennines, Peak and Derbys

Could ask a couple of other guys in this area, not hopeful though, don't know anyone Leeds way with a bike? There's a 'Aprilia/Guzzi' dealer at Shipley...but i wouldn't use them, too pricey!!

I know folk around me who have trailered the bike to griff, left it there for a week....

You could try Alan Jeffries in Shipley- they seem a friendly and knowledgable enough bunch or even Padgetts if it is general servicing. I've seen a couple of Falcos for sale there fairly recently too. Robinsons of Rochdale were- until earlier this year an official dealer- but like so many in the North West they dropped Aprilia. If you fancy a run further North you could try the Rocket Centre, but i'm unsure if they are still franchised either.

Thanks everybody. I can do the basic stuff myself (oil/filters/brakes/etc) but wanted to check the valve clearances and balance the throttle bodies.

Is the valve gear buckets and shims and is it a pain to do yourself?

Oh and shims etc easy peasy you just take it to Griff LOL I like many others wouldn't even try but there are those hereabouts who do so I am led to believe one should be along shortly

I do my own so i reckon anybody can!
Just ensure the cam covers, bolts, wiring and everything else in the area at the top of the engine is either incredibly clean and free from dust and grit, or removed before you take any covers off.
Don't get too bogged down with taking measurements either unless your planning on rebuilding/tuning up the engine. All you need to know is if the clearance is within limits according to the servicing manual every 9375 miles or 2 years.
The manual states intake valves 0.12-0.17mm and exhaust valves 0.23-0.28mm when engine is stone cold.
