What Ohlins shock do I have?

Hi, I'm considering taking my Ohlins off and selling it, but not sure what it is. It has a remote adjuster, so is not like many of the Mille ones I've seen. Also, is it likely someone will have made adjustments which mean a standard Falco shock won't go straight on? I probably need pictures I guess :smt017

When you say remote adjuster, do you mean remote preload adjuster? If so, it's an aftermarket Ohlins, as supplied by people like Harris. I have one. It's great. Your Falco shock should go straight back on when you take the Ohlins off, although you'll probably find the Falco Sachs shock is slightly shorter than the Ohlins.

I'm guessing you'll aslo need to re-fit the standard Falco triangles and dogbone, as your Ohlins is likely to be set up for the Mille triangles and dogbone.

But that also means you'll have a set of Mille triangles and dogbone to sell.

What's that flapping noise? The sound of vultures gathering, perhaps?

I'd make sure which Ohlins it is first. The Falco Ohlins (while a very nice shock) didn't have the ride height adjuster. If it's the aftermarket Ohlins with ride height adjuster and remote preload adjuster, you won't be able to move for vulture droppings...

Ah yes, but is the remote adjuster for preload or compression damping? That is the question, my learned fiend... :smt003

The one Alad has linked is the standard blue spring Sachs but with the official Aprilia remote preload adjuster - sold as an accessory.

The one Reggie is selling (as mango says) is the Ohlins aftermarket shock for the mille. I expect Ohlins did these for the various model years - in which case, the linkages will depend on the year it was for.

The early ones having the same linkages as the Falco, then up to 2003 the different Mille linkages. Later than that is the RSVR1000 type which are different again. We've always believed them to be not compatible (but I have seen it suggested that may not be entirely true - though I'd not take the risK)

Reggie - why would you be thinking of selling it :smt017

ah - i stand corrected

I thought it was the one referred to here:

http://apriliafalco.hadeler.net/index.p ... ck_report/

that indicated to me that there were some out there - and i do recall some one getting excited about this, or similar last year - from a former aprilia dealer, think they had three for sale at 300 quid or so....

This is the Falco specific Ohlins (vertical gas canister rather than the mille's horizontal one)
No ride height adjustment.
Really has no advantages compared to the Mille one.

This is the Aftermarket Ohlins for the Mille:

Yes, I'm thinking of selling the Falco. I have 2 young boys and I just don't want them to fall in love with bikes. I can't bear the thought of them doing what I used to do at 16 :smt009 Someone talk some sense into me!!

BTW, thanks for the info on the shock guys; will have a good look. It deffo has remote adjustment.. I never touch the rear or even notice the rear end. That's how good the shock is I guess.
