Must be the time of year.

Hello, I've just sold a 2004 Ducati Multistrada 1000 in Saudi and bought a 2004 Falco from my Brother in the UK. Baby forces sale etc. Thanks Brother.

I don't collect until December. From what I can gather these are pretty good bikes. I 've read up on the basic stuff (sidestand, charging circuit, rear shock, clutch slave cylinder)

I'm going to set her up as a sport tourer so will be looking for a decent tank bag, rear rack and panniers. Also looking for some decent cans (not loud though).

I also like a more upright riding position so may change the bars to suit.

Any recommendations?

p.s. Did the colour co-ordinated boots come with it?

Bike looks good - I think you're going to enjoy it.

Give the riding position a chance to see whether you get used to it. If it's not quite right, try the clipons-above-the-top-yoke trick before trying anything more radical

best tank bag - imho - is a bagster system - and you can get them colour co ordinated to match the rust brown parts.....

rear rack - off the shelf option is the Venturar system - a givi wing rack can be made to fit - there was a falco specific givi rack but they are like rocking horse poo....

panniers - well - hard or soft? as with anything to do with the falco, anything can be made to fit.... the original aprilia soft panniers and racks are pretty good


oh - the beowulfs are ok can wise.... sound fine - if you do want to change them for something else then consider Fuel - the budget end, or Blue Flame

I'll have a chat with my brother, he might have played around with them.

Thanks, will-do. Does that involve clamping them onto the projecting fork stanchions above the top yoke?

Thanks Aladdin. Panniers: Hard are preferred so I can leave them on the bike if needed.

Yes - you have to drop the yoke down the forks a little - but many of us have done that anyway to quicken the steering.
I'm happy with the standard position of the clipons but Pete (Aladinsaneuk) has the clipons above the yokes and can clarify what to do.

Lower the forks so that three rings are showing

Remove clip ons - the have a retaining bolt under the triple clamp - and fit to exposed fork rings - you may have to look at how brake/clutch & throttle lines are routed - they will fit! The retaining bolts do not need to be drilled and tapped through I did do it

Remove the metal bar that holds the brake reservoir and attach reservoir to mount point directly. ( this stops it fouling the fairing)

John (RandomSquid) has the soft aprilia luggage I got the same after seeing his and whilst not overlarge they are really good and very quick on off with the bags leaving the frame which is quite discreet. I would say have a look I think John put some photos up recently. I have fuel cans and I love the sound they also offer a lifetime guarantee to the original buyer. I haven't taken the baffles out yet as they sound nice as they are

I agree with Andy about the position give ot a go first

3 rings showing is the standard setting for the Falco with either Showa or Marzocchi forks - are you saying you don't actually have to drop the yoke when doing this mod?
