New member saying hi

Hi all, I'm not quite a Falco owner yet, picking mine up tomorrow evening. A well looked after 2001 model in red and pretty much standard. I'm new to V twins as well, been riding a Bandit 600 for a while now and had to take it off the road for a rebuild 'cos it was too rusty. Got looking for something different and found the Falco locally on ebay for a very nice price.
Looking around I see that the rear shock should be pretty much the first thing to change out, but what other (cost effective) mods are there for performance and styling?

Thanks for the welcome guys. The sidestand has been professionally shortened but it also comes with a nice shiny shorty replacement too.

Is not just the angle of dangle, but also the width of foot print - but glad it has been sorted
And have fun - a big v twin is a delight to ride but be aware that there is a lot more torque than on a 4....

OK, probably a daft question, but I keep seeing the 'Clockwork Orange' aprilia logo around. What is it? Is it from a racer or summat?

Like Alad said, have a play with it first.
I don't think you'll find the performance lacking. Wouldn't be surprised if you have what the colonials call a big shit eating grin.
Looks wise they're beautiful out of the box. People seem determined to bugger about with them though...

As far as mods are conserned a good place to start is a doner 2002 ish RSVR or factory, a hacksaw and a little imagination....

Hi Kev, welcome to the site.
You'll find a Falco a bit different after a 600 Bandit, it can take a bit of getting used to. The instant grunt is a bit different from what you have been used to, but totallt addictive!.
As for mods, it's down to what you want to spend, the side stand has to be high on the list.
The shock should also ger attention early on, but it may feel better than what you have been used to on the Bandit!
After that a hugger is a good idea, to keep road crap off the shock, especially if you ride through winter, like I do.
Some like belly pans (I do as they look better and also keep more crap off the engine), others don't.
Have a look at the Riders Site Falcos and other galleries and see what you like.
Cans are a must, with a simple K&N kit or a complete induction swap.
But don't rush into everything, ride it see what you think and just mod things when you can afford. feel the need.

Hi kev welcome I got a Falco by accident after many years on a 1200 Bandit and as much as I still think the bandit is one of the most underrated bikes around I love the Falco
There is a difference on a big way between the two but oddly I didn't find it was the grunt. I found the first few times that the Falco is so smooth compared to the bandit that it seemed almost boring. Until I realised just how well put together it was. That boring bit was just that it demands a different approach and slightly different handling as compared to the bandit it does what it's told and you are not working it so hard
I see it as less of a riding raggedy arsed power surges to a much more responsive and flowing approach not always darting into spaces but much more planning ahead. Basically because it encourages you to look 7 cars ahead because by the time you do you will be there lol
Enjoy the ride
