Dont know how many wires there are without looking, but you should definatly not have a spark. Your wires are loose dude, tighten the bolt has the spark represents a short in your wiring which in turn will melt the outer sleeving off your cables :smt103 Not good

Mine has two earth wires on the engine casing and even with my limited electrical knowledge I know they shouldn't spark under any circumstances

The year of the bike wont matter, has i am sure the looms will all be the same. Any how if the spark was origionally from where the wires are bolted to the engine i would still give the bolt a tweak. Or if it came from the wiring itself, a close inspection might reveal a bare wire and this will need taping with electrical tape. :smt023

You've got me worried now, does mine have 2 or 3? I was sure there were only 2 but I'll check tomorrow and report back , sorry if I've misled you

The amount of wires there will probably only be the same if the bike is 100% standard. It's an earthing point, which could be put virtually anywhere. Personally I'd be finding out which wire is causing the light show and investigate that circuit. You'll get a few little sparks when the wires are lose anyway as there is a fair chunk of power going through them.. Don't be fooled by it being 12v.. Those battery's pack a good punch in ampage.

I'll be more concerned with big sparks and lots of heat. :smt002

You really are not having any luck. I would still investigate your origional spark problem, has melted wires can also turn to fires of the outer sleeving. Start with the basics by checking your bolts where the wires meet has i said before. LOOSE WIRES cause shorting problems! :smt018
