..... Nasty ......
Quick, someone warn Bigun ..... from the pictorial evidence, this seems to happen to Falcos with Red Wheels.
..... which makes me wonder if anything happened to this particular set while they were being painted / coated.
Either that or there may have been some impact at some time (kerb / pothole or something that had weakened them).
Worth a check of our wheels but don't think this can be a general problem as these have been fitted to thousands of Aprilias and I've never heard of this happening before.

The way the wheel is buckled inwards would suggest that it did hit something, but obviously it's something we should check for, I routinley check my rims when doing my tyre pressures especially with the amount of potholes we have to contend with locally which have already cost me 2 sets of alloys on my V70R

Just imagine what would have happened if this rim got blocked in forks...It looks like it was very close to that.

It was a Tuono, not a Falco... yes, I know, same wheels.
I can't see a blowout doing that unless the rim was
badly cracked already.
... a deep pot-hole could do that, and if it was full of water you wouldn't see it before or after (...been there, done that

).

pffff such a wuss. I had a front blowout when I was 10 on my ty80. Wasnt watching while flat out (50

) and didnt see the line of 2ft square holes where the council had pulled small trees out from. Straight over the bars and sanded off the end of my nose due to open face helmet.
Plaster on nose, spokes tightened, flat spot hammered out, flat out the next weekend.Sorted.
I cant have long to go now - what with my faulty swingarm and dodgy front wheel my days are numbered

Could this have been a damaged repaired wheel ? I've seen wheels take tremendous punishment from badly landed stunts etc but I have never seen damage like this on a wheel without some impact.

That's what I thought when I saw it. It just needs one stress raiser to send it off.
