seat question

I have noticed on some falco's for sale, the picture shows that the riders seat has more padding and a slightly different design. it may be coincidence but they seem to be on 2004 bikes. Did aprilia make the seat has standard or would the sellers have had them padded? any ideas, i am contemplating trying to source one of these seats if they are available! :smt017

When I first bought my Falco (new in 2008 - don't ask...) I was severely unimpressed with the standard seat, as was SWMBO with the pillion seat. After not much more than 50 miles, both of us were suffering with severe pains in the backside.

As a result I bought secondhand rider/pillion seats with a view to getting them reprofiled with gel inserts and recovered.

At the same time I scoured eBay for a secondhand RSV Ohlins shock, and sent the Showa forks off to a suspension specialist to get Hyperpro springs and RaceTech Gold valves fitted.

Once these suspension upgrades were fitted, the seat pain seemed to magically disappear. In fact in 2010 we went on a 2000 mile round trip to the South of France without giving the seating a second thought.

I still have the spare rider and pillion seats somewhere and will one day get them reprofiled and re-covered. But it's not high on my list of priorities...

Yes the rider's seat on the later bikes was changed a bit and the consensus is that it is more comfortable than the earlier ones.
The bikes that had the better ones as standard are the 2003 onwards models (the 2-colour bikes: Olympic Bronze/Black, Flamingo Red/Black, Oasis Green/Black).
The aftermarket Sargent Seats are also renowned for their comfort (but are very expensive) and I think it was Furyganman who found a seat re-upholstering outfit that did a very nice job on his one (at a very good price).

I'll try to find a link
EDIT: Both Furyganman and Old Git by the look of it: https://www.ridersite.com/viewtopic.ph ... light=seat

Here is the one Old Git had done:

and here is the website of the people that did them: Bootleg Bike Seats

Another +1 for Bootleg!

He's a few miles from my house, done seats for both me and my father, very impressed!
