Has anyone had one of these fail?

My neutral light wont go out, no issues with staring or running just the damn light wont go out. I've removed the switch and cleaned it but no joy, so for the time being I've just disconnected it.

Cant remember ever reading about one failing before though.

rewrite this and claim it as my own but I think you are all too smart to think I have a clue about anything mechanical so ...

I think the summary was there is a microswitch in the clutch that may affect it

Worth checking that the wire to the switch is not shorting to ground.

Hi Andy, I've checked the wire and its in perect condition and not earthed. If I disconnect the wire at its connector the light goes out, so I'm pretty sure its the switch itself thats goosed

I'll get a replacement ordered

A new replacement neutral light switch was picked up today and fited. The outcome.....no joy

The neutral still won't go out and I also recently replaced the diode pack. So after searching all the usual Aprilia forums I've no further ideas or clues as to what could be causing this

Any ideas people?

I'll swap over the diode pack again tomorrow (no time tonight) to see if that may work but It didn't make difference with the last switch

With your recent luck with electrical problems Rich, I'd just take the battery off.
Sorry can't think of anything more sensible or constructive at the moment, never had a problem in this area on any bike I can think of.

To be honest Howard, I've had enough, this is the straw thats broken the camels back. I'm going to put her back to standard condition and sell her. I've really tried and done everything I can think of inc spending lots of money and not getting a solid reliable solution to these niggling problems. I've even considered buying both looms and replacing everything but I'm not prepared to throw any more money at it. The new battery charger appears to have done its job though and she starts every time now but some bikes just turn out not to be keepers

In the forthcoming months there will be quite a lot of bits for sale......

Rich - I've not yet had a chance to look through the circuit diagram to see if I can figure this out - but I still plan to when I get a moment.

Sorry to hear you are still having problems Rich. It must be so frustrating having spent such a lot of time on the refurb. Sorry I can't help but...........................I can hear the vultures circling above already.

I can understand you feeling that way Rich, it really has gone on a bit too long, especially as in most cases you've never actually been sure it was fixed, when a problem went away.
In my case it's been so easy to stick with the Falco as -
1) It's the best bike I've had in 46 years riding and,
2) It's the most reliable bike I've had in 46 years riding.
In more than 7 years and 26K plus miles, it has only really had two problems, broken plastic pin on the side stsnd switch and buged up brake light switch.
I also had the problems related to the dud Yuasa Battery, which I initially put down to the bike.
Then there was that extra special "Numpty" trick of putting the tilt switch in upside down, because I knew there was one but thought it lived under the side panel not at a 45 bdgree angle at the side of the battery, plus the rubber housing clip allowed it to be mounted two ways, (and I chose upside down).
It cost me a few parts before I came to my senses!

In your case it was always going to be difficult buying another Falco having had the previous one that was special.
I would not rule out another one, but better luck with what ever you get.
Am being boring, but really nice ZX9Rs are going at even sillier prices now!
