Possible Mid Section Production Run...

Hi all,

OK then, might get my exhaust chap to do the "upgrade" on the mille mid section. This upgrade also negates the requirement for you to buy mille oil tank and re-route any pipe-work et etc...

This particular re-augmention will utilize the falco standard front header pipe. It doesn't impinge on the falco oil tank also, before anyone asks :smt002 So, you can gain mid-range torque and some top-end apparently, going off the information flying about on here. Also, you only need to buy one can. Or you can see by the previous mid-section thread, a shotgun setup is feesible :smt003

Ultimately, price is dependant on numbers. Also, I have to give him mine and he will have to make a jig. Ball-park figure is £120 plus p+p. Turn around time would be dependant on numbers and demand. Probably a week I guess.

Let me know if anyone is interested....

just to add a pic etc - this is what Greg posted up previously about this mod.

OK, first stage completed. As you can see, I have got the mille med-section to link to the falco front header pipe. Saves changing the oil tank, redo pipework etc (Unecessary cost, time, and effort!).

Basically it adds the balance pipes that give the mid range boost to the Mille system but re-routes the line of the front cylinder exhaust to mate with the Falco front header ... avoiding the need to change the oil tank and oil cooler.
Neat solution

(I'm in for this one BTW) :smt004

Hey Greg, you can put me down for one as long as it doesn't go up much more than what you've quoted!!!

I fancy having the single exhaust setup without the hassle of making all those changes, also if I don't like it I can revert back to the original set-up :smt003

We shall leave it on here till end of the month. Take numbers then decide if it worth getting it off the ground folks :smt004

I like the idea of this mod (and it looks pretty shiny!). However, I really do prefer the "balanced" look of the twin exhaust.

If you were to make a twin-can version of this, I would be interested.

Ah that's interesting, so would it be if we went down this route that we could buy Mille hi level set up that would look similar to yours Pete? So buy these pipes and there's nothing else to change apart from link pipes and end cans

The only current hi level i know available for Falco are GPR, would doing this mod offer a few more alternatives? If so then i'm in too, remember replies in 'CBeebies' speak please i'm not very good a to keeping up with the 'techno' waffle :smt003

Yes... You would have more choices

Only caveat is the mounts would be different - there is an easy solution involving two short lengths of metal plate from the falco rear subframe - the mounts already exist on the subframe hidden under the rear cowl

Just to add - some people have said that some Mille twin pipes will not work with a falco swing arm - I have seen it done... With high mounts you should not have a problem though

Haven't been able to locate any highmounts for mille

Indeed - Mille 2:1:2 pipes are rare.

I do have a set I could be prepared to release - but both cans are on the same side of the bike ..... and they are not hi-mount ........

I would look in the for sale section of af1 and try aprilia performance forums. There were two sets there recently

Maybe I'm being a bit dense here. I meant "one can on each side of the bike, as per the stock Falco exhaust setup." If I can't keep my existing SL Carbon cans, then I'm not really interested any more.

Pete's setup has one can each side - following the 2:1 mid section, his pipes split into 2 again - though it does lead to exhausts tubes of significantly different lengths.

The mod is primarily for those of us that prefer the less cluttered look (and wider choice of cans) of a 2:1 setup - or a set of shotguns.
