....mainly directed at those who know my tatty blue thing. Sprag clutch is going - not surprising given I basically went two winters with a shit battery, no optimiser, short commute, and subsequent run-to-dead and then boost to life episodes. This coupled with its general cosmetic shortcomings that I have neither the time or patience to fix, is making me think about packing the bastard in and get another one (cursing at having missed TMDs black bargain recently). Thoughts?

Yours is mebbe too much of a restoration project to be used daily?

Good question and probably one that only you can answer.

Let's just consider the get a new one option:

• Should be able to pick one up fairly cheap - Falcos don't fetch a lot - but you might have to wait a while to find one you like.
  So then, what are you going to do with the old one?
  • Flog it? Well Falcos don't fetch a lot and broken Falcos will fetch less and be harder to shift.
    Maybe you can take the hit and sell cheap
    Maybe you can fix it up .... but then you are doing the work that you are trying to avoid in buying a new one
    Maybe you can break it for spares ..... but then you are probably doing even more spannering than you would to fix it and still have to flog the parts.

So what if you keep it and fix it:
Well how much work does it need?

• Sprag
  Plastics?
  Front subframe (or did you replace that? ... think you might have)
  Anything else?

With those things done, What sort of nick is it in?
I know it's your daily transport so you might need to pick up a small commuter (bike - not somebody who travels to work each day) or scooter while you or someone else fixes it.

if i'd had the money (which i dont) i wouldve offered to take it off your hands as is for a sensible price however im not in a position to for a few months or so

I'm guessing that if k1w1boy has had his bike the way it is for as long as he has, a few months might not be the end of the world .... It may well take that long to find another good replacement ... towards the "end of the season"

..... and we do know there is a lowering kit available

No he didn't, but hopefully he's about to in ten minutes or so. Got a guy in to look over it.

I was thinking something similar. But Phil Collins? - that's harsh (but fair)...

Especially as he has one of the rare blue ones.

...deserved all of that, sigh. Preened, primped, polished and maintained it by default...then dropped it two weeks after that, three weeks after I bought it, about 3 years ago (has it really been almost that long?). While the bike
was pretty I gave it it's due. What's a basic sprag-sorting likely to cost me parts&labour wise? If it's close to £500, I'd be better off browsing for another. There are a couple of basic models listed on MCN in private sales for around 2K - including a green one - thoughts?
