I know about front sprocket change to a 15 tooth but would anyone recommend upping the back sprocket at same time by one tooth also, cheers blinkey

Left the rear standard - works for me

1 tooth less at the front has the same effect as about 3 more on the back.

Going up a few teeth at the rear will need a longer chain, I'm going with the longer chain more on the rear option and keeping the 16 tooth front.

If you go to 15 at the front and say 44 at the back you'll probably need to replace the front wheel and head races more than the front tyre.

Indeed - but -1 at the front, +1 at the back will work with the current chain.

As you point out a reduction of 1 at the front is equivalent to around 3 at the rear so the additional benefit from the rear sprocket change is not huge. Unless the rear sprocket needs changing, I'd not bother (just go for the 15t front) ..... and if the rear does need changing then it would probably be better to review the whole front/rear sprocket and chain scenario.

funnily enough, having always thought i was running standard gearing, I have actually found i have a 42 tooth rear

the indicated top speed from gearing commander is 157 as opposed to 161, but i guess that i have not lost out - the bike has been recorded at a silly speed on the track - due to the assorted tweaks and tunes

this is probably why I have never had a problem at low speed in traffic etc....

I'm now running 15/42 and really like it. You will notice the difference by going up one on the rear.

sounds good to me 15/42 it is thanks a lot, i dont think i will hit top apeed anyway

Think i went up 2 or 3 at the back and kept 16 front, did a longer chain at same time as both sprockets, did notice a slight difference which i liked, was a nice compromise and also favoured by a lot on the AF1 Forum

i think jf you hava a 16 front and go up two on rear the difference is almost the same has 15 front and having standard rear. My chain has loads of life in it and for a time i am going to stick with just changing front, and save quite a bit of money. For a complete set 15/42 and chain i was quoted about 165 quid off flea bay, does that sound about right?

I think you could do better price wise but but you won't save megga bucks. If you've a lot of life left in your chain the sensible thing is to spend about £15 or so on a 15t front and see how it suits you. A budget way to explore the sort of change these things make (and, indeed, it's where many of us have ended up)

The cheapest front tooth sprocket i can find on ebay is £20.49+£2.95 postage, so i thought ok i will ring them direct has i know they have to pay to list them. there was no price difference

I've bought direct from Talon before - they were easy to deal with.

My current front sprocket is a renthal - can't remember whether that came directly from them or not.

You may want to try motopike.com I think that they have a 15t sprocket for about £15. There are a few other Falco bits for sale on there as well.

This is the guy making the carbon fibre fairing lowers for the falco. I see that he has a CF dash infill already for sale.
