Sorry to impose this on you's but here goes..........
I've had a Firestorm stand lying about in the garage for a while - you know the score, late Ebay session after a couple of sherbets, seemed like a good idea at the time etc.
Anyway. I eventually got round to fitting a Mille rear shock (again purchased in much the same manner) and noticed that the original stand now seemed a lot less secure. I thought this might be down to the increased ride height or maybe softer spring rate of the replacement shock.
Now I've said here before - I've never really had a problem with the original stand including several ferry crossings so I've never been too bothered about replacing it.
Thing is, now that I have I'm not too sure it's any better. The foot sits further forward and the bike is marginally more stable but there is a marked amount of flex in the leg when the bike is rocked (in an attempt to simulate a ferry scenario) and I fear for it's longevity.
I know the replacement is forged rather than a welded tube and it will flex but the amount seems excessive.
Anyone who's done this conversion care to comment?
