After a discussion with swmbo, I've got the go ahead to get a new shock. The catch is it has to be no more than 400 quid, so do I go with Nitron or Hagon? I know that I could go with a refurbed Ohlins or white spring Sachs, but for the cost of getting a refurb, I might as well get a new one. Any thoughts?
Currently with the Nooj getting the bike cleaned for the first time ever!

buy a white spring for 50 quid
spend 125 on refurb
spend 100 getting front forks serviced and suspension set up correctly for you
trouser the rest :)

I've still got the white spring from you, just trying to find someone that will do it at the moment. Forks are fine, only had them done in October, will get them serviced at the end of the year.

Further to that then, does anyone know the best place to get whitesprings serviced? There's now two of us wanting to get this done in the Berkshire area.

place in scotland is the best place i believe
PhilH had his done there and rated it
I will post up later with a contact for you
(And doing that means even more for the trouser fund....)

My first choice would be as Pete suggests, if you go for one of the other two I would probably go for the Nitron. I have a mate who is very happy with his. The only Hagon shocks I have experience of were old twin shocks and the Hagons in those days were good budget options compared with new pukka parts. Hagon's current mono shocks are quite good I believe, but a bit basic.
Strangely I have never seen a write up on one in any bike mag.

I and others have used these so they are used to Sachs/Falco folk. post it to them and they'll post it back or ride up to Brum and they'll fit/set it up for you as part of the deal, two guys run it, friendly blokes

Spoke to a chirpy Brummie at Revs Racing earlier, rebuild will cost around £100 with VAT and he'll fit a recessed valve as well. Sounds pretty good to me, is that about the going rate?

Yes
Weigh yourself with gear on in case spring needs changing

sounds about right, they'll be cheaper and more expensive quotes around but at least you know these guys come recomended. I had the Yellow shock Sachs serviced + replacement spring to match my weight in full gear
