My gorgeous Falco could be coming up on the market very soon. Something I've been thinking long and hard about. The bike itself is awesome and really is something to behold.. But I never ride it. I find myself getting the 6T out more often as I think I don't ride it enough. It wasn't until SWMBO pointed out to me the other day that I realised I've not had the Falco out for weeks and almost always take the 6T in preference. I don't feel the same 'connection' as I do with the 6T.. To me the Falco is just another bike with a little more.. Doesn't feel fully mine. Strange and hard to explain, but I'm 99% sure most of you know what I'm talking about.

I've got so many projects on the go where the revenue raised from the sale of the Falco would finish some and progress others. Seems to me to be the better idea than keeping a bike I don't ride.

Don't worry.. I won't be packing up the Ridersite!

FFS .... you wait until I'm stuck round the far side of the planet before dropping this bombshell !!

Guess I should have seen the writing on the wall when you bought a Ford Galaxy ....



..... might be worth getting it out and riding it before you make a final decision - and have a last go at getting it set up ..... just a thought ...

Nice bike Will, not a classics fan but do like the Triumph T100 as the other half likes it and will be the only 'other' bike i'll be allowed to own, that or the Speedmaster?

There are a number of different factors.. Nothing is set in stone just yet. I've been weighing up a lot of things I've got money tied up in to turn in to usable wonga. The aim being to get some projects finished off. The Reliant and Chop being the main two, but I've also got a Triumph T120R on-going saga I'd like to progress a little more with, and not forgetting a major life event that's taking place next year.

So let's get this straight; you're thinking about selling the Falco to fund the Plastic Pig Project...?

He'd have said the same about bikes too.

I had a 1959 Pre Unit con Tiger 110 in the Mid 70s, when I returned to biking. I loved it but buying it as transport to work when I worked at BSC on three shifts was not one of my best ideas.
There were always bits falling off or it just decided not to charge half way down the M1 bit of the journey to the night shift, probably starting to work again whe I got to the car park at work after trying to follow cars down the M1 with no lights at all.
Sorry just nostalgia for the 60s/70s and old Brit bikes.
Sold it and bought a Suzuki T350 Rebel, and found out how relable two wheels could be.
I feel special about the Falco, have had dozens of bikes, but there are only really two that were special the Falco and the Matchless G12 CSR I had in the 60s. The Falco is the most reliable bike I have ever had, which helps. The Matchless was pretty good as well, only had one major problem, it just kept breaking crankshafts until I could not get one anymore. The love only stopped when I ended up having to fit a Dommie engine in and it went fine, but just it wasn't the same again.

Keep the Falco if you can Will, as I think you will miss it, but choices like this are hard to make, so do what you have to.

P.S. Second thoughts -

Dump the Reliant and keep the Falco!

Most people who hop on a classic Brit bike and expect it work perfectly all the time are living in a dream world..lol. Spoilt by Japanese reliability, but had to change bikes every few years because of the shocking build quality. I'm a Brit bike nut, but I appreciate the classic Jap stuff and don't discount it as "Jap Crap" like most Brit lovers do. They all have their pro's & con's. The British manufacturing industry as a whole was severely effected by WW2. The government's just didn't have the capital to subsidise entire industries like the Japanese did. Who knows where we would be now if Britain had the same level of investment.

The Plastic Pig is awesome! One of only 15 known to still be in the 'van' body shape. A lot of van's were converted into estates as it was the cheaper option. The body shells are the same, but the van didn't have rear windows or seats. Pretty good load space for something as small as it is. Have had washing machines in there with room to spare..lol.
Mrs Will and I met when I was driving that thing around, so the plan is to do it up and use it for our wedding car next year.



The Chop is to also be encorporated in to the wedding plans.. It needs extensive work as I striped it about 6 years ago to fix and strengthen the frame. Since I had to strip it right back I decided to re-con the lot.. So wheels are needing to be re-laced and various brackets and boxes made.



One Project I'd like to progress with is my T120R.

Anyway.. Back to the job in hand. Sale of the Falco. Seems all may not be lost. After a few good months at work, I've managed to earn myself a bit of a pay rise.. Which is nice. It's not a massive increase, but it's being reviewed again in 3 months, and all being well would see a substantial change.. So much so that the Falco could stay! So, until the end of August at least, the Falco is staying!

With such a multi-purpose vehicle, you should be able to run a lucrative little enterprise that will guarantee the Falco's future ....
