Anyone else had an issue with the little grub screw on the clutch lever backing itself out?

Just back from a great weekend in Scotland (Bike ran superb for the full 500 miles, the dash issues & engine cutting out gremlins appear to be resolved) but after about 150 miles I found I couldn't change gear cleanly, and at the next set of lights I couldn't disengage the clutch at all. The lever would come back to the bars with no effect on the clutch.

Of course I thought the slave cylinder had gone pop, but no fliud loss could be found; so after further investigation I found the little brass grub screw had backed itself almost fully out resulting in no pressure at the lever. This happened 3 times over the weekend, Now home I've now cleaned it and threadlocked it (hopefully that will work) but I never had this probelm with my previous Falco or the Tuono.

It occured to me that quite a few of the "clutch" issues reported on here might be related to the same problem????

what was the route and stop off's, and how long for...I'd like to do something similar myself but don't want to do do too much as it's my first 'tour'!

We set off on Sat morning, stayed overnight in Dumfries and travelled back yesterday following this route:-

Wakefield - Ripon - Hawes - Kendal - Penrith - Hartside Pass - Alston - Brampton - Longtown - Langholm - Lockerbie - Dumfries (all done on A & B roads mainly B roads to be honest) Breakfast butties at Pennygarth cafe in Hawes is nailed on of course, as is a brew at the top of Hartside pass (if you can get past the pushbikers there..........thousands of em!!)

Stayed at the Huntingdon House Hotel (owned and run by Terry & Lynne, who are both bikers) a spotlessly clean hotel and the best "mein hosts" you could ever ask for : http://www.huntingdonhotel.co.uk/ highly recommended

Return was Dumfries- Longtown - Alston -Middleton in Teesdale - Brough - Kirby Steven - Reeth - Bedale - Ripon - Home

Here the bikes at the top of Swaledale and the Falco in Hawes. I have loads of routes around the dales & the north pennines on Mapsource if you have a Garmin sat nav.

Oh and I can highly recommend the Ventura luggage system if anyone is looking for a luggage solution, absoluely superb

Brill! Have parked in the very same spot outside the Chippie! I do indeed have a Garmin satnav so i know who to approach when/if i bring the bike up to Yorks later this year

To respond to the original question, I've found the opposite to be true, those tiny grub screws are usually a complete bastard to get out

Yep - I never managed to move mine.

Hi all,

Said grub screw it held in by a tiny allen tapered screw, that you can't see, as the allen head is on upside down If you remove said lever and turn it 180 Degrees you can then adjust or remove the screw to then adjust the clutch pin which can make a whole lot of difference to how the lever works, trust me on that
