For everyones info

Had my bike MOT'd recently.

I was informed by my friendly MOT guy, that it would fail on the HID :smt009

I did a search and found a few threads on other forums (mainly car) about this.

So if your MOT is due & you have a HID, I suggest you put the old (dim) bulb in for the test
:smt001 unless your MOT guy is friendlier than mine :smt002

Been illegal for years hasn't it?
Self-levelling is a tad problematic on a bike. :smt002

When I looked in to it a few years back it was a bit of a grey area. (though turn on the HID and the grey soon disappears)
I'd not have fitted one if it had been clearly a no-no

Never had a problem at MOT with mine (so far)

I've been a bit cheeky one and asked the mot guy if they will mind the extra bright headlight. He said as long as it isn't blue he won't mind.

from september CARS may not have an HID fitted unless it is a manufacturer replacement part.

this does not apply to bikes

sort of end of there i think :)

(If needs be i can pull up the relevant documentation from the DVLA web site - i think we posted it here as well)

Try the VOSA website.. You might get a little further as it's those chaps they answer to. :smt002

Thankfully my MOT chap employs common sense.. If it's too bright (blue) or not aligned right, he'll tell you to sort it out.
