Went out on Friday for a bimble,:smt001

Thought I would clean Bike on Saturday am and go for another ickle bimble

Noticed very little fluid in clutch reservoir,

take off belly pan, fluid all over inside cleaned frantically

Too late had spread on to the under side (painted) and just up the side ARSE.

I had the MPL unit fitted (only coverd about 10-12k), well at least i have the original!

Bloody thing won't bleed GRRRRRR (yet).

So no Mooseketeering this weekend ARSE

Have I missed Summer?????

Aw shit. That's bad luck.

Seems to be quite a few of these MPL slave cylinders failing. I know they have a good backup but at the price they charge they shouldn't fail this often should they?

Is the Oberon a better bet??

My thoughts exactly.

I have e-mailed them and they say you need a special tool to change the seals, so return it and they will fix it, I am waiting to hear how much it will cost first.

I replaced the original to make it lighter, which it did (about 50% imho), as I was getting a nasty pain under my left shoulder blade when touring, however it turned out the clutch was not the problem, nor was it the bars, which I also replaced for the helibar option

It turned out all I had to do was grip the tank with my knees when braking or rolling off the throttle .

Still having the helibars has made the bleeding process alot easier , I have the bar suspended above the bike at the right angle so any air will rise to the top (he says hopefully) so tonight I will have a clutch

They usually say that they are not user serviceable however one of the ausies on AF1 persuaded them that he could repair it and they sent him a kit of seals. Description with pics (including pics of the fairly simple "special tool" he knocked up) can be found on AF1.

My understanding is the best ones are the Evo slaves as they have multiple X-ring seals. Ken Zeller will sometimes do a deal on them too.
That said, they are very expensive (especially compared to the £40 my MPL cost).

I paid about £45 for mine.

They want £43 to repair and it will take two weeks aleast, as they are very busy ( Hmmm repairing all the others???).

I think I will pass, on this very tempting offer .

If I were you,I'd reply to them to tell them you can't wait but if they'd be so kind as to send you a set of seals, you'll fix it yourself ..... it has been done before.

Isnt it under guarantee? Is it from the UK and under 2 years old?

Im sure there's something about fit for purpose and a european law..

and if so, a claim for a new paintjob on the bellypan...

It's over 3,1/2 years since I fitted it.

However you know when things just get worse , didn't bleed it last night (spent most of it searching for a missing cat) and as it is my 25th wedding anniversary today (won't have time tonight wining & dining) decided to take afternoon off to sort it.

Bloody bored screw snapped orf (bugger, bugger, arse) and off co"arse"
The thread isn't standard so my local shop don't do them.

Sale of goods act gives you up to 6 years but you need to show it's a design or manufacturing fault and that failure is unreasonable - it would be a struggle to do that for a seal that by it's nature wears and has been in place for over 3 yrs.
I did win on getting our Xbox 360 repaired - with the complication that it was bought from Play who trade in Jersey .... but I don't think you've a chance on this one.
