Fiddling with the Falco...

I had my first chance to get the tool kit out and have a poke around the Falco this afternoon, although I've only got the patio outside my kitchen to work on the bike and the weather was a bit miserable.

I was pleasantly surprised how easy the bike is to work on, only a couple of minutes to lift the tank and the handy arm to hold it up!

The cause of the flooding tank cap was traced to a blocked nipple at the bottom of the tank (thanks to whoever pointed this out as a possible cause in my other thread!) and a build up of crap in the pipe. A few pokes with a pipe cleaner later and it's all sorted!

I also pulled the top off the airbox to check the filter, and found the first (hopefully not of many) bodge. All the airbox lid mounting bolts came out easily, except the one at the bike hidden by the tank which I couldn't seem to get a purchase on. After a bit of head scratching and trying to squeeze my head under the tank to get a look I spotted a phillips head screw sitting in there!
The filter looks a bit manky from the bike sitting for a while, so come payday I'll source a k&n or similar replacement.

I just hope it's dry tomorrow so I can go out for a decent ride :smt003

LOL - no need to rub it in .... although standard on the early Falcos, the later bikes came without the tank prop.

(fortunately I've obtained one - so I'm not jealous)

I had the first fiddle with mine and thought I'd found something exciting under the seat. Apparently It's an ECU. Whatever that is. Looks untidy though, might rag it out for extra sandwich space.
