Since I finished an 8 week contract in May 2009 with South Lanarkshire Council I had no work until February 2010. Sure I managed to get a few wee cash numbers and a couple of wee daft jobs (Next stockroom)and had the support of my brilliant family and lovely girlfriend. (No exup ape, a new one :smt003 )I made it through 2010, still managing the Northwest, cos I ended up selling Woodburning stoves for a well known Glasgow gangster (well, former gangster as he told me but hey :smt018) which ended not so amicably in July. At the start of November I got a contract position with Glasgow City Council and up to now I'm still here.

I spend a load of my weekends last year from June onwards, bagging Munros and managed 16 before the end of November. Cheap pastime you see.

I still have the black beast and won't be getting rid anytime soon. I used her a good bit last year more as a mode of transport than fun as I didn't have loads of spare cash for fuel. She still makes me smile as much as ever.
Mind you I destryed a sprag clutch last year at the North West and had to get her recovered from Bushmills to Kilmarnock, pushing her on and off the ferry. It didn't detract from my enjoyment of the North West tho and being pillion on a CBF1000 was a proper laugh.

So there you have it, Fit, Fat and still alive and looking forward to another NorthWest. I'm on the lookout for a cheap big tourer like a ZZR or a Blackbird but the beast will always be my number 1.

S'good to be back

Nicely done on the Munro's, gonna get them all?

about 300 IIRC, I didn't even make it into double figures before I got fed up with it, was too young to appreciate it really.

Good to hear that you're getting some work.

Now if you recall many years ago I came round to check out your Falco prior to getting mine, so I know what you look like.

So my question is, how does an ugly git like you manage to pull all these wimmin?

"Fit, Fat and still alive and looking forward to another NorthWest."

Doesn't sound too bad to me!
Especially if the Glasgow Council jobs lasts for some time.
Chasing up Munros is a bit too much effort for an old fart like me, (old, fat and still alive), but I have done similar less energetic things in the (long distant) past.
Glad to hear you've still got the Falco.
As for getting a sports tourer, how much tourer do you want. I had always expected to get a Blackbird, (along with the Falco), when I got rid of my old CBR1000F a year ago. Had owned it for 7 1/2 years and a Blackbird (or possibly a ZZR) seemed an abvious replacement.
Then just over a year ago I saw a really nice ZX9R and bought it.
See my posts in the Kawasaki section if you are interested. Main thing is they are very comfortable, as well as very quick and there are some real bargains around. I have an F Model, one of the last ones, and it is still on flatside carbs, which makes it indcredibly economical if ridden with a bit of restraint. Also goes ballistic, if you want to play. :smt003
Was out yesterday on it, the roads were not that great and the wind was bloody awful, so riding slower than normal on a "fun run".
Filled up when I got home after exactly 120 miles and it took 9.5 litres.
That's 57.47 mpg, how the bloody hell did it manage that?
Dont often check it but did get 54 mpg on a similar run last winter.
Good luck with the job and the search for another bike.
Keep in touch mate, always nice to hear from you.
