painted or powder coated is best

hi all just thought i would ask which is better and why as need a stand for my falco and need to no weather it would be better painted or powder coated and also how do i put a pic of me bike up

Yes it certainly would - unfinished stands will never last so well or look so good.

Personally I'd go with powder coat for a stand, it's cheap and hard wearing but looks good and is resistant to chemicals.

I agree with Nooj. I've had a few things successfully powder coated; bike frames, wheels, brackets etc. However, I've just refitted my newly powder coated centre stand to my BMW and I'm disappointed in the amount that has flaked off during refitting. It cost £15 and the finish was lovely but it's not as durable as I expected. I'm pretty sure that the preparation or curing is at fault, but I haven't taken it back yet.

Hi all,
I painted my side-stand with black shiney hammerite

Two coats, job done, it does what it says on the tin

Go for whichever one you can do soonest, either is better than replacing the fairing when the neighbours dog farts and blows your bike off the standard sidestand :)
On a more serious note I would go for powder coating, it's tougher, just make sure you mask off any threads (saves a lot of digging out if the powder coater isn't great).
