Hey all, hope ya all had a great Chrimbo and NY! :smt003

I have got unbranded carbon pipes (loud) and a K&N filter just fitted, I have since fitting the K&N (which was a bit of a squeeze to fit!) that I have a slight hesitation when accelerating and was wondering if i need to get an "update" tune?
:smt017
Whats the procedure with the chip? does it need to be changed, oh and where is it? lol.
I'm not much good when it comes to this sort of thing and its the first fuel injected bike I've owned.
Thanks in advance to your words of worldly wisdom :smt003

An open pipe would have the effect of leaning the mixture, our FI's ain't closed loop. The simplest solution would be to get a chip, Ping Gabro on the other side, his chips get rave reviews.

I have open Scorpion pipes and a Dr. Rossi chip fitted. Smoothed out the power delivery no end and I’m sure it’s added a few ponies too.

Thing is, it was runnin sweet as before I put the K&N in and the old filter looked like a bird had nested in it. Hmm, go figure!

These chips, I dont understand, thats part of my original question, are there specific ones for diff exhaust, air filter etc, and where are they located on the bike?
Sorry so many questions, but I hear about this and that chip, the only ones i understand are Mcains! :smt002

When I got my Dr. Rossi I told him what mods the bike had and he sent me a chip to suit. It’s setup for open exhausts and air filter although I’m still using the standard filter and it runs fine. Griff at Aprilia Performance set it up for me and he synchronised the cylinders at the same time.

Not sure where it’s located, under the seat I think?

The chip is situated in you ECU - the ECU lives between the tail compartment and the seat. Open it up and you will see the chip there.

Contact Gabro (malarone@gmail.com). You will need to include how your bike is set up I.e. make of pipes, filters ect. He will then custom make the chip. Then replace (carefully) the original chip with the gabro.

If I remember correctly I paid about £70 for the chip (about a year ago) and it made a massive difference. Didn't notice much in the way of exta hp but noticed a big difference in power delivery. Well worth it IMHO.

Gab's chip is 75 euros shipped (~£63), I'm currently waiting on mine being delivered.

griff - aprilia performance also uses the dr rossi chips

I would suggest that the gabro chip, or a dr rossi chip is the best solution

I would not waste my time or money on any other chip tbh..... I would suggest contacting gabro and getting the right chip for your system/bike
