Did Aprilia decide to put different sized nuts on the front & rear spindles??

I'm sure there must be a good reason but seeing as the spindles are the same size and thread I wonder what it could be?

Luckily I had a spare complete rear spindle left over from my previous Falco modification days, so I've fitted the same size (32mm) nut to front & rear now, which at least means one less socket kicking around the garage floor on a weekend

So are we now going to have a dating agency to pair people up so that we all have the same front and rear - half of us with the bigger nut half with the smaller.

I'm going for the smaller - just dreaming of those few milligrams saved in unsprung weight ......

And of course I can get you either size nut in titanium; natural, gold, purple or blue. Group buy anyone?

One half of the relationship might be happy to be known as the bloke with two big nuts.
Then again .........................
Many blokes might be not like like being known as the bloke with two small nuts.
You are certainly not going to register this with a dating agency.
It's all down to a bloke's pride!

Sorry for opening a potential hornets nest but again I ask why?

What possible reason did Aprilia have for two different sized nuts, especially when one of the sizes isn't covered in the standard tool kit.

If memory serves isn't it the 31mm (front) that has the toolkit spanner but not the rear 32mm?

If so the clever ones amongst us will go for the "smaller nuts" option

Anyone got a spare front spindle?

Don't know why Aprilia chose different sizes however the front needs a 30mm sprocket and the rear 32mm.

TBH this doesn't bother me as I have both sockets in my garage.

It makes no difference whether there is a spanner that might fit in the toolkit as it would be completely impossible to undo the nuts given the torque they are supposed to be tightened to.

As it is we're all blokes with odd sized nuts

iv always wondered why i did not have a spanner in my tool kit that fitted the front wheel , i did have to use ny tool kit once to tighten the chain till i got home but had to use a hammer to help it turn , is there a reason we dont have a spanner for the fromt wheel in the tool kit ? or did some idiot do somthing silly and and had a law suit , like they did for our front break seals ?
