Could somebody do me a favour please? If you have the VTR 1000 stand fitted to your bike could you please measure how long it is from the centre of the swivel bolt to the end of the stand and let me know please?
Due to a suspension change I need to buy another stand (covered previously) but it needs to be approx 15-20mm longer than the std Falco one, no point in wasting money on experimenting if one of you guys (or gals) can help me
Likewise I appreciate that a number of you have Gixer stands, Fireblade stands etc...fitted, if you know the stand you have is longer then the std Falco one again I'd like to hear from you

Looking at them (not measured them or anything) Blackbird and new shape Hornet stands would also fit.

My accuracy probably not great because my bikes are parked so close in the garage and it's snowing so I wasn't about to wheel one outside!
Anyway, VTR stand: 210-215 mm from bolt centre to deck.

Hi Rich - just measured my VTR stand and agree it's 215mm.

Its exactly the same length as the Falco stand then (to the mm) although I think the angle is different of course
The search continues but I reckon I might just lengthen this stand or attach a nice piece of alloy to the foot of it

The biggest problem with the Falco stand (apart from the angles) is its very thin and springy. If you lengthen the thing, it will spring more. It isn't just the geometry that's bollocks, its the whole design. See the difference between the ROW and the US stand and you can what I mean

I see what you mean, how available are these US side stands is AF1 the only place you can get them?

That's where I got mine. First class service, stand arrived 6 days after I ordered it and they even put "SPARES" on the documentation so Mr. Customs didn't take his cut. Not cheap but believe me, it completely transformed the bike. EXTREMELY stable and VERY strong (and I had a Gixer stand on before)

Currently I wod recommend th USA stands - the bubseywoo ones have gone to shit it seems so....
Perhaps a trawl through yank evil bay?
Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I'd heard that the quality on those bubsywoo ones was "iffy" I'm looking on eBay motors but nothing at the mo. The AF1 price is a bit scary and thats before the postage costs and "possible" import tax

GSX-R stand.. You know it makes sense..

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.

I'd second the GSX-R option, Rich. As we have a tame machinist on the forum (i.e. Will), the only possible drawback of the GSX-R option (getting the machining done) is removed. Cosmetically, structurally and ergonomically they fit the bill.
As a matter of interest Will, what donor stands are you using? Mine is a cast K5/K6 stand and I'm very well pleased with it.

Am not overly sure to be honest. The one's I've done thus far are of two different types. One needs to be machined to accept the side stand switch, the other doesn't. I offer them up to my bike before having them finished though.. Just to make sure they fit and work well.
