And i remember reading about 520-525 pitch or something, one was for racing i think. is it the 520 i should get?

525!

Some folk fit a 520, but the general consensus on this forum is not to do that (biq torquy Vtwin).

If you fit a 15T front, use a 106 link chain. I believe that a 16/42 combo requires a 108.

thanks again Dyzio...you're on the ball today!! Looked the 'gear commander' from and older thread search...but haven't got a clue what i'm suposed to be looking at!!!

Was it a 108 for a 16/43 which was the alternative i was looking at?

Load up the bike settings, then you can play with sprocket ratios.
It will tell you how your new gearing will affect the revs at certain speeds, top speeds.
It will also calculate the necessary chain length.

Give it another go, it's a bit confusing at the beginning but not that difficult once you get the hang of it.

...so this would be okay if i went down the 16/43 route, it says a 110 chain but as Will says could always be cut down, but i suspect it's correct...is it not?

Buy this chain then you can have whatever you sprocket combo you want. I assume the 120 relates to the number of links, you would need to check though.
