Possible future new battery choice

I just saw a thread on the ApriliaForum stateside about a possible new battery, it's a Lithium Iron one from an american company called shorai, with 270A cranking current, also just weighs 1 kg. Unfortunately you cannot buy them outside the states so with import duty we'd be stung big time. However I e-mailed them yesterday and they are looking to get a UK or european distirbutor in the next few months so maybe later in the year this'll be a possible choice
Here's a link to the Falco section

Sounds like a plan... I'll drop them an email.

Yep I think that lithium ion will be the way to go in the future - I've been looking at them for a while now but the prices have been high and the actual capacity low.
The weight saving and CCA ratings are impressive though.
The ones in the link look interesting - first ones I've seen that look like a bike battery.
I know Ben "The Traitor" Wilkins was planning a lithium ion battery for his hill climbing Falco but can't remember whether he'd got round to sorting that out

I believe these aren't Lithium Ion, they're Lithium Iron Phosphate.

Does it hold a charge and what CCA can it deliver?

I got two replies
April time they say they will have a uk or european distributor.
As for the type of battery, they are lithium iron not lithium ion

Just done a bit of reading up ......
It seems Lithium Iron IS one of the several Lithium Ion technologies.
If anyone's interested, this seems to be a reasonable introduction - fortunately it avoids delving into the chemistry
