This should probably should go in the workshop section but...
With a std length chain could I fit a 15-42 pair of sprockets?
I know a 15-41 will fit (I used to run it) but fancying a slighty shorter gearing set up this time round

Can you refresh this thread after you've put some miles on with the 15-42 combo?
I'm running a 15-41 set, which feel good, but I'm wondering if the 42 rear will feel better

No problem, although IMHO I reckon you would struggle to feel the difference with just one tooth difference on the road, but you might find the odd corner / roundabout is better.
FYI I ran my Tuono on 15-43 gearing and loved it. Still had an indicated 160mph on the mountain at last years TT and had 3rd & 4th gear wheelies at will. The best gearing I've ever run. I even did 2,000 miles through Spain touring on that gearing with no issues.
I did see extra wear on the gearbox sprocket though, it started to hook earlier than I'd have expected, despite using lots of chain lube and keeping the chain properly adjusted. Still it was a small price to pay for the fun I had

Ran a 15-42 my self when i had my falco , it felt just right to me. Thinking of doing the same 1 down 1 up on the cb 1300 i bought 5weeks ago.

I've always run 15-42... never had anything else on the Falco and my new set of sprockets will be the same config.
