I've only gone and bought.....

another Falco!!!

Yup, just browsing fleabay when I spot a Falco for sale locally. Been stood for 18 months whilst the owner went travelling and now it won't start so I went round and had a looksee........well one thing led to another an offer was made and accepted and come Saturday she shall be mine

Basically its a very nice 2004 in Bronze & Black with the Aprila Carbon Cans & Chip fitted, loads of history, full toolkit, seat hump , std cans in a box etc....

It needs some TLC of course (I reckon the tyres have about 6psi in each of em, lol) but it has been stood a while of course. The owner borrowed a battery off his mate but when he connected it ...nothing! apparently a quick short "click" and that was that!

I don't think its seized (don't see how it can be) so I'm hoping (fingers crossed) that if I whip the plugs out and turn her over a few times, give em a good clean and put em back in. This coupled with some fresh petrol and good strong battery via jump leads should have her fired up (god willing) or of course I've gone and bought a lemon :smt009

It does have a Datatool alarm fitted so I'm hoping that isn't going to cause any issues but we'll see.

The seller seemed a real honest bloke and sometimes you have to go by gut feeling of course, but he said she was running fine before being laid up and I reckon its probably a good bike . He thinks the problem is mechanical but I reckon its the battery !!! we'll see who's right very soon

Either way if shes a runner I can't wait to get out for a blast on her.

Nice to be back in the Falco fold though!

Now who has some nice bits for sale?? I already fancy a LSL handlebar conversion, it'll need a tail tidy, a renegade air kit and ....... oh my god its started again already :smt003 :smt003 :smt003

In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Cool! Congrats on the new falco!

Starting... Datatool.. Long period of no charge...

If we're having a sweepstake can I have a quid on the Alarm being fucked?

I seem to recall some, if they go too long without charge, it all goes pearshaped internally with the internal battery or something.. and you have to send them back to Datatool to be reset?

Anyways, a quid on the alarm.

My thoughts exactly.................Datatools have a pretty shocking reputation for going pear shaped anyway don't they? The seller has all the paperwork & instructions for it so at least I'll have a starting point if it does turn out to be the culprit

Mind you I've got alll winter to get it sorted so no mad rush

Thanks to you all for the nice welcome, much appreciated

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.

:)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Nice find.

I'm in for the alarm, but don't dispair, there's a thread somewhere with links to resetting info, that should help if it is playing silly buggers.

Hahaha, did wonder when you'd get another.

Personally I've never had any probs with datatool (3 bikes had it), there again there's lots of lemon fitters about charging far to much for shoddy work.

Anyway grats on the bike.

Welcome back, and thanks for giving me an idea. My wife expects me to sell the Falco in the spring after buying a K1200R Sport. Howevr, these bikes get under your skin so maybe if I "sold it" and "bought another one that just happens to look the same but is much cheaper" she wouldn't notice. :smt002
